Which is of a lower character?
Bobby Petrino or
The purpose of this is to provoke thought, serious thought about persons being considered for the Head Football Coach at Auburn University. What traits do you wish to see? Is it really just about play calling, or much more? To pay someone millions to watch over and guide, yes, guide, the young men who choose to play at AU for several years requires certain traits..who has them, who does not. That is really the question I am seeking.
Peace to all and consider all facets of this hire.
Whose team have you heard more issues with from a moral standpoint? Chizik's (a supposedly moral man) Auburn or Petrino's (supposedly the most immoral person on the planet according to some) Arkansas? Simply because the man made a huge mistake doesn't mean he cant guide young men to make better decisions.
Hell, some of the best speakers out there are people who made terrible decisions and then rose above them. Sometimes you need to hear it from someone who has experienced the pain that comes with making major mistakes.
To compare Petrino, who did not do anything with malicious intent, with a deranged person who set out to hurt a very large group of people through his actions because of a football rivalry is ridiculous.

Fearless and true.
Here's another one for you while I'm at it. I believe in the Bible that David was an adulterer and even further he attempted to have his lover's husbad killed by shipping him off to battle. Yet knowing this God still found him to be the person to lead his team. Don't stone Petrino without first seeing how he does things.
Again for the record im not the "pro Petrino" crowd. I dont "like" that he comes with baggage, I probably prefer Jimbo as a total package, but if we hire Petrino so be it. I dont think we will need to suddenly pray for the souls of each of our football players because of it.
you have an interesting point of view. But honestly, this whole Petrino forgiveness thing is tiring. What does my forgiveness have to do with the hiring of him? The question is not one of "can I forgive" but more along the lines of "can I trust him not to do it again?" In this case, in each of the episodes Bobby has been in, he has failed to not lie to his employer. Also, in each case, the lying was more perverse and more deep. While David ask God to "restore a right spirit within" him, and recognized his own failings. Does Bobby truly meet that standard? If not, and the hire is made, who accepts that? Who will ultimately risk his future, his livelihood, his standing in all of life, for believing in Bobby Petrino? That decision is one that will determine if Petrino will be removed from the list for the "safety" of not hiring him. In my mind, Gogue will remove him and make a "safer" hire. Can you blame him?

Cuz I got news for you, you can't trust any of them any more not to jump ship for a better job because this college football stuff has turned into a huge money making business. With that said I would trust Bobby P as much as anybody when you consider he will probably be thankful given a second chance and be the best coach he has ever been, just saying - WDE
ON TO VICTORY - STRIKE UP THE BAND
Not sure if serious.. Is this a real question?
"Get in where you fit in." Life is, Too Short TL;DR
Is updyke going to get an interview?
"you lost cool points with me" E-40
I Believe Auburn and Love IT...4 Life!
You should prepare yourself to live with the consequences of your decisions, whatever they may be.
Depends on if you judge character as moral or criminal. Petrino has moral issues. updyke is a criminal. Character doesn't win football games.
" If it feels good, you ain't doing it right!"
I'll name one difference. One is going to jail one is not.
How many people out there have stretched the truth to save themselves on something? Everybody including you. Are you really sure you want to put your character up against Petrino's?
How many people have poisoned a tree for their favorite football team? One - Harvey Updyke.
