First, everybody who is freaking out should take a deep breath and calm down until we know the whole story. This is why my attitude is that the guys we've got are great and any one else (other than another RB) is pure gravy. I'm excited for the guys we have.
Second, who are we talking about? An 18 yr old who is admittedly a great HS player and looks to be really good in college but he also might be an Isaiah Crowell or Mike Dyer with his drama queen mentality. He's also having problems with his grades so all this wailing and gnashing of teeth may be for naught regardless of what actually happened. Auburn is on the right track with CGM and all the great coaches and recruiters he brought to Auburn. We will be fine. Just wait until our guys get going, we won't have issues with needing someone because our needs will be filled before this late in the cycle and we'll just be going for best available. RF would be nice but his absence doesn't sink the ship.
Lastly, while I do not want to imply its ever ok to use that word, can you imagine how bad things would have to be for that to be said to a guy like RF in a bar full of African Americans? So, IMO, the most probable thing that would lead to such a confrontation is RF recruiting for Bama. I personally think the whole sky bar thing is propaganda meets the telephone game but if it isn't, I cannot imagine that coming out of any white player's mouth unless RF played some part in the confrontation. Understand what I'm saying before you jump all over me. Even if RF started the whole thing by recruiting for Bama I still think RD should lose his scholly
if he said it but I can't see him saying it unless Reuben did something really low. I hope that makes sense.
Alabama football is the epitome of everything that is WRONG with college athletics, in particularly football, and has been for some years now. Sure, they win but we know they cheat. They cheat at the crutial point of the process which is recruiting and have been allowed to do so during the Bear years and again all during the Saban years - and doing so unchecked with NO repercussions from the SEC or the NCAA. And it certainly does not help that the local media is in their back pocket. Bama is basically a "pro team" in the college ranks. The players get paid, either with money or cars, etc... the only thing I can see different is that we know Bama juices their players and the NFL has strict rules against that.
WIN AT ALL COSTS and that is all the University of Alabama cares about and all that the "fans" care about. You can ask a "fan" if they cheat and they will give you the sharp end of their tongue in a way that only a bammer can while telling you all about how Auburn cheats but the outcomes don't lie: we see players "flipping" at the last minute when we don't have time to recruit someone else, we see bammer winning title after title with little "pip squeak" looking playing who now look like the incredible hulk and we all know the bammer players drive expensive cars, have cash, suits and the like, but bammer but never seems to get investigated.
Don't guess this will stop. Saban retires and the REC secures another "Bear/Saban" coach to carry on the "dynasty" and will keep pumping money to pay off the SEC and NCAA to keep quiet. It will keep going on unless somebody has the money or influence to challenge the REC and it may even have to come to a government (Fed not State) investigation. I don't like government interference but I truly don't see an alternative at this point.
