I don't know that I would go along with losing recruits left and right. To answer your question, I think Chizik has his top candidates and is getting ready to interview them. He is not one to involve the assistant coaches in the decision, so I would agree that they don't know. What I don't agree with is that somehow it's different for Auburn not to have an OC than it is for Florida, Alabama and others. I haven't figured that out yet.

I don't agree..I think it is different for AU because we are looking to have to replace not just one coordinator, but, two. We lost a very unique and dynamic offensive mind that kids actually got excited about playing for. I do think that it has hurt us on the recruiting trail that we have not quickly hired an equally dynamic offensive mind that recruits would be excited to play for. On the defensive side of the ball, we are a SEC powerhouse with what has appeared over the last year to be a very weak defense. Defensive superstars do not want to play on a weak defense and like other fans are looking to our HC for a plan to make a change. That plan starts with a DC.

Don't take my comments as being down on AU or on CGC. These sorts of judgments can only be made over the long run. A less dynamic "big splash" hire may turn out to be best for the long term success of the program. The decision is being made by the person that will ultimately pay the price if it is a bad one and reap the reward if the decision is a good one. This is how it should be. However, I think it is foolish to think that our indecision is not being used to beat us to death on the recruiting trail with a very high degree of success. It has and will hurt us with this year's class. It may help us next year or more important make us a better team, but, I just very seriously doubt that we are going to finish this recruiting year the way we have finished the last two and I place 90% of that fact on the slow pace at which this coordinator search has been conducted. It is what it is.
