I am hoping to take my son to a game this coming season, neither of us has ever been to one. He will be 16 in a few weeks and thought this would be a great gift. I am asking the board for ideas, best and reasonable hotels, restaurants, tickets etc. Any help would be greately appreciated. Dates, most likely end of the year because he plays football and cant miss the time until his season is over. Spending, will be an important factor due to the overall cost with airfare, hotel, tickets, food etc. I am not looking for handouts, simply advice from those who know the area. Thanks in advance.
Something to keep in mind is that the team stays in the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Montgomery the night before the game, about an hours drive from Auburn. They also usually attend a movie at the Rave movie theater in Montgomery at the intersection of Vaughn and Taylor Rd., although they did go to the theater in Prattville before one game this past season. Just something else to think about in addition to all of the fine suggestions that I'm sure you'll get here.
No war is over until the enemy says it's over. We may think it's over, we may say it's over, but the enemy gets a vote. - Gen. James Mattis
I have stayed in Columbus Ga which is 30 minutes away. And less traffic after the game.
Just another suggestion
Alabama fans love Alabama football
Auburn fans love Auburn University
Make your reservations now. I know of several places that are already booked up for several games. When I was staying in the RV park on South College near exit 51 they used to be booked full for football season by mid-winter.
When I used to fly from Dothan to Pittsburgh on a regular basis the leg from Dothan to Atlanta cost considerably more than the leg from Pittsburgh to Atlanta so the advice about driving over from Atlanta will cost you some time but save money.
What part/city in PA you located? May be easier to drive to DC get direct flight to Atlanta rent car and drive to Auburn. Only 1-1/2 hr drive from Atlanta to Auburn, dude claiming 2-1/2 hrs must drive really slow!

Thanks to everyone for your response. I never thought I would get this much great information and I can't thank everyone enough. Auburn fans are the best. war eagle. P.S. I live 45 minutes southwest of Philadelphia and can easily fly out of Philadelphia. Washington is a drive but possible. Thanks again.
Hope you make it happen, and you and your son will LOVE IT ! I've been to see Auburn play probably 20 times over the years, but this year I'm taking my 7 year old son for the first time !
I agree... I live close to the Atlanta Airport. The drive down is about 1 hr 45 min. from the airport. Check back as your plans develop. It might work out for us to give you and your son a ride down and back if you choose to stay in Atlanta.
We stay at the Hampton Inn quite often, but I would call as soon as possible because it books fast. The price is reasonable and it is next to the softball complex so you can ride the shuttle bus to campus and they will drop you off at the hotel. It is located at exit 51 next to the interstate.
