I'd like to take a poll on who you think is the best coach. Ignoring all baggage and whether they "fit" for AU. I'm talking winning and losing, X's and O's. I don't want an argument about "if this" or "if that". Limited to these coaches:
1) Larry Fedora
2) Bobby Petrino
3) Jimbo Fisher
4) Mike Gundy
5) Charlie Strong
Again, please just vote on who the best coach is. Who has impressed you with what they have proved as a head coach.

If our leaders select a coach based on the fans' acclamation, I'll be very disappointed and that would be a foolish action, indeed. I think we all need to admit and understand that the little we know about any coach is limited mainly to what we see on TV and read in articles. If you really want to go down this road, demanding that Dr. Gogue hire a new AD and then have the new AD hire a new football coach, then you are going to have to understand that it's going to take some time to do this in a professional manner.
It may take a great deal of time. Forget about recruiting or anything else. If you want to open up this can of worms understand it will take time to find the right candidates, compare them objectively and make responsible hiring decisions. I have no idea if Dr. Gogue feels he has the knowledge and experience to know what a great AD looks like so he may need to rely on trusted professional associates or consultants to aid him in making that decision. Only after that person is hired can they then do an objective, thorough search for a head coach. It's going to take time. It's easy to throw out names and be so sure that this or that person is who we need, but if it all falls apart, you're not the one holding the bag and being held accountable. And also understand this, if this next hire doesn't work out really well the situation will be exponentially worse because it will be back to back with this year and the failed Chizik regime.
Obviously, I have strong opinions about a lot of things, but I know that if we go down this path it will be deadly serious this time and I freely admit that I know next to nothing about the candidates. I will expect the University to have experienced professionals get up close and personal with as many viable candidates as possible and make an informed, intelligent choice.
I'll be watching from out here.
BTW, it's bier, not pier.

"Brick by brick, my citizens. Brick by brick"
I might rank Fisher and Strong higher if they had been HC longer.
People are afraid to say it (or something) but it HAS TO BE PETRINO - hands down. Yes, we all love Auburn and the Auburn Creed, but as I have stated before, is the Auburn Creed above the Bible? NO. If BP's own wife has forgiven him, why can't Auburn?
Here is a perfect fit. Auburn who need a winning, no-nonsense coach; and we have a coach who needs a school with a clean reputation (well, we feel we have a clean rep with the Creed and all - forget the bammers and their BS talk) where he can "redeem" himself. Unless there is something I don't know other than cheating on his wife (which other SEC coaches have done) and his hiring that "fast piece" to work for him, and his hopping around earlier in his career, then I think BP is ready to settle down and prove that he is a GREAT coach and kick Saban's "you know what"!!
Petrino by a mile
Really tough though IMO
I was going to put a witty joke here, but I forgot bama fans still use picture books. So I thought I'd expedite the process for you...
Stay thirsty my friends......
