That statement along should result in the end of the Gene Chizik era (error).
I think that pretty much sums up where we are as we have regressed from the number 1 team in the nation to damn near the last team (not to mention the laughing stock) in the nation in less than two years.
And we have a HC who gives the worst interviews I have ever heard with a deer in the headlights expression. As others have said loosing is one thing, loosing like you could care less, or just hoping you can stay in the game, or it is just something beyond the HC's control is pathetic. I don't know the root cause, but it is obvious CGC is incapable of running an AU football program in the grand tredition.
AU deserves more respect and I hope we get it sooner than later.
In my lifetime I have never seen Auburn football so complacent.
Worry only about things which you can change, the rest will either work themselves out or kill you......either way, no more worries.
Complacent is a good word. One of my biggest issues. I could have delt with a losing record this season, I just don't like the stay the course--all is well attitude. Maybe it's the best way to handle adversity, but I think I would have rather had some emotion, not panic button urgency, but urgency none the less.
As for not regretting it. I would have said the same thing. I still don't believe a HUNH offense can be successful long term in the SEC without an exceptional QB (Cam, Tebow, Manziel). I think you have to have some type of power on your team for it to be successful. I think some type of hybrid could work well. The benefit is that the spread allows you to recruit slightly different players then UGA and bama, so you're not always going after the same guys. A downfall is the perception that spread QBs can't make it in the nfl (see Cam) and that those systems don't set you up well for the NFL. It also seems less spread guys get drafted because in general they are smaller (RBs, WRs, OL, TEs). I don't blame Chizik for going that direction, for him it's unfortunate that he underestimated the issues that were looming over this season.
Also unfortunate he refuses to 'tell it how it is'. I don't think it'd help for him to do so because he would be telling on himself and it would be viewed as excuses, rightfully so.

Yeah, so how many players has Chizik's program sent to the NFL since Cam & Nick?
I think I can remember when we had a bunch year end and year out.
