All I have to say to all of you is name me any coach that we could get that would be a better coach for AU!! Then I will stay quiet.
All I have to say is either use the search function to find the other 4000 threads on this topic over the last month or
You won't get an answer. Just a bunch of creed monster responses.
No other thread is focused on who else we would go after. But thanks for your input.

Kids, (a) Changing speeds is more important than a curve ball (b) you play defense with your feet & (c) Wayne Hancock is the tits.
This is one of the best jobs in college football and Chizik's successor will inherit a program that is rich in resources and a roster that has a ton of talent. If and when the Auburn job comes open there is going to be a sizeable list of people who are interested including many coaches currently at major BCS programs.
I think Petrino could win at Auburn. That said, it's not at all a given that Bobby Petrino is the absolute best person that Auburn could get for the job. As it stands, Petrino is just most likely the best guy that Auburn could get if they needed to hire a coach tomorrow. That clearly is not the case.

Just taking a quick gander at the top 20 and I'd say all of these coaches are on par with CBP...
Auburn from day one.
I am a strong supporter of BP, but, there is wisdom in this post. As much as I hate to admit it I think Alabama had the right model for a coaching search in the modern era of college football. Do not worry about who is available or who might or might not come. Go to the best coaches, all things such as fit considered, and pay them what it takes. Will Saban come to AU? Probably not? But he sure as hell would take a raise up to 7 or 8M from the turds to stay. Worth the effort? The hat? He might just come...If not, LSU would have to pay him 6M....just work on down the list. I mean, if we are going to go the old fashion search route vs. going out and hiring someone quickly to save our recruiting class and right the ship....Jack up the price for every successful currently employed coach around or hook us someone that already has a winning program. Either way..success.
How many of those coaches would Auburn have a chance with?
Richt? is that a joke?
Easy now. You have to remember, the updykes along with head updyke malfunction moore OFFERED the job to Rich Rod who was at WVU at the time.
He accepted it and over night after a visit from the Gov backed out.
Its not as if it was conventional wisdom that updyke st's search was the way to do things. They backed into the weasel while he was in Miami saying things like:
"Do I have to say it? Do I? Ok, I won't be the coach ta (updyke st) next year. Aiiight?"
Oh and remember the NATIONAL backlash of the lil' guy taking the job and just how long it took for everyone to change their tune?
