To all of you who take 2010 for granted or who have joined the chorus made up of our envious and/or hateful rivals in calling it a fluke, just ask al, ore, k state, ga, fl state or fl how easy it is to win 14 in a row. Even with all the great coaches, players and what many were calling one of the greatest college teams in history, al didn't even win 10 in a row this year. They may still win it all this year but it won't be perfect.
So, whatever happens during this off season, let's all be proud of what our team and coaches accomplished in 2010. It was the seventh perfect season in Auburn football's 121 year history and the most wins ever in one season in school history.
"Brick by brick, my citizens. Brick by brick"
No one is calling it a fluke. It's just that it had to do with a group of very special players coming together and not any of Gene Chizik's doing. That's obvious now more than ever. I wouldn't have had it any other way because it was a very exciting, special, and memorable season, but I honestly believe that with a different head coach we wouldn't have even come close to losing some of those games as we did that year. With the special talent we had on the field, we should've blown out everyone.
But really, no one called 2010 a fluke.... just that it had nothing to do with our lame duck coach's prowess.
I was going to put a witty joke here, but I forgot bama fans still use picture books. So I thought I'd expedite the process for you...
Dozens of subscribers on this site have called it a fluke or worse. They came together how? They developed into a team, installed an offense and defense, planned, practiced, prepared, developed game plans, made adjustments, handled the firestorm in Nov and Dec how?
My only point posting this message was that a perfect season is not as easy as some may think and the last two seasons underscore how rare and special and what a tremendous accomplishment it was. Many people at Auburn that year and in years past had a hand in it.
