Mr. Marshall.......I read in a post where you advised that you would (later) write & tell us the story of the decline of the AU football team & program.
If you wouldn't mind prematurely opining, how approximate is the following thesis:
1. It has never set well with CGC that Cam Newton & Gus Malzahn were (and still are) typically given the vast majority of credit for the 2010 national championship run and win, regardless of whether or not such information is accurate or correct.
Thereafter, in-part due to CGC feeling "slighted" concerning the 2010 season, and also in-part due to perceived defensive issues:
2. In 2011 CGC deliberately mandated a "slow down" of CGM's H-U-N-O offense, which ultimately led to Malzahn's departure to Arky State for substantially less money than he would have continued making at Auburn.
3. With Mack Brown advising & serving as his "mentor", CGC decided (same as Texas) to purposely pursue a change of offensive philosophy and move to a pro set & style of offense (enter CSL), in-part to PURPOSELY move away from Malzahn's H-U-N-O type & style of offense.
If any of the above is accurate, the level of tension, stress & potential mistrust inside the athletic department must be off-the-chart, and may have been so for much longer than any of us could possibly have known. Bringing in somewhat-untested CSL to work with the remaining assistant offensive coaches post-Malzahn (some of who might think they should've been named OC) probably has not set well with some of the assistant coaches.
I feel certain there is MUCH more to this story, assuming any of the above is indeed accurate; therefore, I am curious what information you might be willing to share at this juncture.
Thanks for all that you do for all of us.

i would be willing to bet you definitely hit on something there, but personally i have no clue
well thought out for sure
Forget the why. He did and that is all that matters.
I'd really like to know if there's any truth to certain players (allegedly) having absolutely no respect for CGC, making fun of him behind his back, etc., and- if so- why, how did it get to this point, what role, if any, do assistant coaches play into this issue, etc. I know we have major problems, I just want to understand why and just how major these issues might actually be.

No war is over until the enemy says it's over. We may think it's over, we may say it's over, but the enemy gets a vote. - Gen. James Mattis
The rumor about Mack was that he didn't want to be on the team with Deangelo. He felt in some way that Deangelo helped escalate the circumstances for lack of a better phrase. I am not saying this is true, just one of many rumors that may or may not be true.
