give me a freaking break....
From letter written to the Montgomery Advertiser:
The crash of a bald eagle named Spirit into a window during a forced pre-game flight at the Auburn Tigers' stadium on Saturday is a sad example of how animals suffer when we drag them into human celebrations.
The screaming fans, air horns, music and booming sound systems of sports games can be stressful, terrifying and disorienting for animals. If given the choice, bald eagles make their homes near lakes, rivers, and quiet forests, far away from human disturbance.
Other birds released to commemorate human occasions, such as homing pigeons who are bred to resemble white doves, may fly for days without eating or resting, often getting lost, falling prey to predators, or succumbing to weather extremes.
Animals aren't performers or party decorations, and they don't deserve to be frightened, hurt or even killed just so we can have a momentary thrill.
In light of Spirit's disturbing accident, let's hope the Tigers will be good sports and retire their animal mascots to sanctuaries, where they can live out their days in peace and safety.

If you cant be honest....whats the point of being anything?
Opinions are like @$$holes! Everyones got one and they all tend to stink! Note to PETA...if Auburn University wanted your "expertise" im sure they would have asked for it. Otherwise mind ur own damn business. The Auburn Eagles are some of the most well cared for birds in the world. To assume because of a freak accident that they are abused because they are "forced" to fly is absurd. If they didnt wanna fly the stadium then theoretically they could just fly away...correct? I hate when this so called animal rights group defers everything down to "human" vs animals.....UMMM NEWSFLASH YOUR HUMAN ALSO! I sincerely doubt ur perfect in your life.
F U peta!
Tomorrow's headline: Auburn Urges PETA To Shove It.
“Live for something rather than die for nothing.”
-General George S. Patton
PETA you have a valid point, no wait, you tree hugging left wing bleeding hearts are full of bird poop. I'm sure they feel the same way about people having cats and dogs, "Wouldn't the world be a better place if they could all just be free". I would love to come back as one of my dogs, they are treated like Queens!
I used to complain about having no shoes until I saw a man who had no feet
now, now everyone... relax....
veggies certainly do have a place in this world and we should embrace them as a central part of our diet.....
(they belong on our plates, right next to the baked potato and across the plate from a nice thick steak cooked medium rare!)
While I agree that we were pretty close to having a nasty moment last Saturday (I had an ex girlfriend who worked at the Raptor center when I was at AU; needless to say, Spirit's talons could do some nasty damage to someone if he had fallen into the crowd last week), let's all remember that this is not the first time PETA has had Auburn in their sites:
"The accusations from this group, an organization often associated with extremist and headline-grabbing tactics, are wrong and unjust and represent a disservice to the faculty and staff who strive every day to develop advancements in veterinary medicine and responsibly treat the animals in our care"
It's a shame that an organization that could actually do some good against illegal poachers and other serious animal rights issues spends their time and resources attacking institutions that have award winning animal care departments and impeccable community outreach , like our Vet school and the Raptor Center.
Hey Lindsay Pollard-Post of PETA Foundation go F**K yourself and leave the goats alone.
..........BEAT BAMA .................BEAT BAMA..................BEAT BAMA
Lindsay Pollard-Post is enough to give hyphen-last-named people a bad rep-- as buttinski libs.
PETA started out as helpful, putting down the puppies mills, now they are worse than Jesse Jackson, always trying to extort monies from whereever they think they can. PETA why dont you come down to the plains and stage one of your protest, like where you paint up the girl as a tiger and put her in a cage. I'm sure we would all welcome you with open arms and hands, ready to throw rocks at your worthless bunch of idiots. I thin k Bruce who heads up PETA would be nice one to invite down. Just tell him Rick Burgess will be in town, I'm sure he would show up, NOT! Heard Rick and Bubba rake Bruce over, thru and under the pile one day on the radio. They have totally lost there way. Just wait we have not heard the last from PETA.
The first time I'd ever heard of PETA was in the late 80's or early 90's when PETA organized a protest on opening day of deer season in Northern California. They dressed in Orange, got noise makers, garbage can lids, etc. and marched through the national forest to warn the deer that hunting season was starting. Of course, their actions resulted in a deer drive and hunters killed many times the number of deer normally taken on opening day.
The local news people were interviewing the PETA members who were so distraught that some of them could not stand up while they talked about the horror they had caused. Funny Stuff happens when city people go into the wilderness!
Im all for it if we can replace the eagles with PETA members. Throw one out at the beginning of each game, and start a new tradition.

PM your diplomacy is noble, but I have seen PETA in action firsthand in my business. They never act alone. They work more like a pack of coyotes. That was just a mating call for other PETA folks to pick up the cause. They are never successful though as they do not pick their battles very well.
As I stated these fools can kiss my buttowski.
And to follow up- PM- do you think a random employee of a organization should be able to attach the organizations name to a letter to the editor?
I think if this is a personal email it should be without the PETA tag line. Or she could be looking to get the boot and wants to speed up the process.
People eating tasty animals is a great group too!
This reminds me. Deer seasons a coming!
