Greetings from Plainsman Park. The big question is whether Auburn's game against No. 18 Ole Miss will be played before the rain comes in. It's overcast, but so far so good.
I'll be here throughout the game with inning-by-inning updates and opinions. Check back often.
Here are the starting lineups:
Ryan Tella CF
Dan Glevenyak SS
Cullen Wacker LF
Garrett Cooper 1B
Patrick Savage DH
Damek Tomscha 3B
Jordan Ebert 2B
Kelley Hunter RF
Blake Austin C
Conner Kendrick LHP 3-1, 1.94 ERA
Tanner Mathis LF
Austin Anderson SS
Auston Bousfield CF
Stuart Turner C
Andrew Milestone 3B
Preston Overby 1B
Christian Heisel 2B
Will Allen DH
Cameron Dishon RF
Bobby Wahl 8-0, 1.22
TOP OF FIRST
Mathis flies out to left.
Anderson pops out to shortstop
Bousfield strikes out swinging. Very sharp inning for Kendrick
BOTTOM OF FIRST
Tella hits it hard, but he's out second to first. He's now 0 for his last 17.
Glevenyak grounds out to shortstop
Wacker grounds out to first.
TOP OF SECOND
Turner gets a single past third. Tomscha should have made the play.
Mistone singles off Glevenyak's glove. Heck an effort by Glevenyak, who almost made a diving stop.
Overbey grounds hard to third. Tomscha steps on the bag and throws to first for the double play.
Helsel strikes out swinging. Inning over.

Cooper's drive against a strong wind comes up just short in deep right.
Tomscha flies out deep to center
Ebert lines a single to right
Kelley flies out to left. Inning over.
TOP OF THIRD
Allen pops out to right
Dishon strikes out and looks bad doing it
Mathis bounces an 0-2 pitch into right for a single.
Kendrick picks Mathis off first. Inning over.
BOTTOM OF THIRD
Austin lines the first pitch to left for a single
Tella bunts and runs into the ball. He's out. What a slump he is in. That's 0-for-18.
Glevenyak grounds out meekly to first. Austin goes to second.
Wacker called out on strikes. Inning over
TOP OF FOURTH
Anderson called out on strikes
Boufield pops out to center
Turner lines a single to center
Mistone grounds a single into right
Overbey drives a 1-0 pitch over the left field fence. It's 3-0. Two out and nobody on and then three straight hits
Helsel singles sharply to single.
Allen strikes out swining. Helsel steals second on a botched hit-and-run. Should have been out but the tag was late.

BOTTOM OF FOURTH
Cooper drives a 3-1 pitch far over the left field fence for his seventh homer of the season. It's 3-1.

Nothing doing for either team. It's 3-1, Ole Miss, going to the sixth.

That's all for Kendrick. Trey Cochran-Gill on to pitch.
Will Jameson bats for Dishon and beats out what was meant to be a sacrifice bunt. Runners on first and third. Nobody out.
Mathis lines out to shortstop
Anderson hits into a very nicely done 3-6-1 double play. Inning over.
BOTTOM OF SEVENTH
Savage strikes out swinging. Didn't come close.
Tomscha grounded out

TOP OF EIGHTH
Three up and three down for Ole Miss. It's still 4-1.

Will Jamison singles to center, scoring Perdzock and takes second on the throw. It's 5-1. Another two-out rally.
Mathis scores from second on a wild pitch when Austin can't find the ball and nobody helped him. Sad. It's 6-1.
And that's the end of the inning. This one is as good as over.
BOTTOM OF NINTH

Savage strikes out swinging and slams his bat on the ground

I had very high hopes for Gabe getting some production out of our bats....Not so much I see.
PM you have seen this team more than any of us. What can you see that may be causing this awful season?
If you cant be honest....whats the point of being anything?
Hard to say. Ought to be a pretty good team. Not much fire left, it doesn't seem.
Seems like we are all singing the same tune.....fourth verse same as the first!
