My wife and I just moved to Austin, and will be living here for the next few months. We want to make sure we don't miss anything while we are here. Looking for anything cool outdoors (hiking, biking, swimming holes, parks), beer (good breweries, bars, happy hours), food (interesting places that we can't find anywhere else), and anything else that is a must see/do/eat/drink. TIA
welcome and war eagle. I live here so can be a big help. ( I hope).

swimming holes: Hamilton's pool, Barton Springs, Deep Eddy, Krause Springs
hiking/biking: Reimers ranch, The Greenbelt (360 entrance good for bike entrance but there are others.)
parks: Zilker Park, Auditorium Shores, the awesome Town lake trail near downtown
brew pubs: Blackstar Coop, Lovejoys, Gingerman, Opal Divines
food: hit the trailer park eateries on S Congress, also get great bfast tacos at Torchy's Trailer on S First, BBQ (just throw a rock and walk that way). Pulvos on S First, Vespaio , Uchi.
This will get you started. If you have kids let me know for levelo 2. welcome to town.
Wow, thanks for the suggestions, we have our work cut out for us. We stopped in Fredericksburg on the way out here and went to the F'burg Brewery. That is a cool little town, and we plan on going back. Love BBQ and will put Salt Lick at the top of our list. We like live music, but not sure we want the college crowd. Will check out 4th and 5th st. We are running the Austin 10/20 in a couple weeks, and pretty pumped about that.
What are the trailer park eateries? Sounds interesting. No kids, but we will probably get a dog soon.
Is there a good alumni club here that schedules events or anything?
Welcome to Austin. Lived here for a while and love it! There are lots of Auburn folks here too.
Welcome to town! Great place to live! My wife put together a list of things to do/see and places to eat. Send me a PM if you want and I'll send it to you.
