Why are people acting so ridiculous? This is a great hire. Find me another OL coach in college that has put as many linemen in the league. Probably aren't any. He is also walking into a dream. He has a wealth of young talent to work with. He is a teacher of the game, which I know in Auburn is unacceptable to most. All we think about is recruiting. Trust me, in the end we will have as many superstar recruiters on this staff as we did on the previous. CGM is doing a great job. Lashlee is going to be the next Kingsbury. Just wait. CEJ is a much much better recruiter than CBVG was. Relax.

Since we are sharing our thoughts...here's mine. I agree his resume and experience looks impressive, and I'm sure he can coach just fine; however, he can't be Gus' first choice or he would have been hired the same day the OC and strength coach were brought over. I don't think he is a bad hire, and most people will agree; however, it is obvious Gus thought there was a better hire out there and we missed on it.
I'm an Auburn man and I'm darn proud of it!

Just stop. Posting good common sense and facts are not allowed according to the Debbie Downers.
Agreed... His resume is great, he has 30 years of experience, he coached for Beamer. I remember those years at Miss St when they ran the ball down everyones' throats. I'll take this hire anyday.
Some are now so caught up on being a star gazer and with recent classes being so highly thought of that they forget that a staff still has to actually coach. Mind boggling, but true. I for one want someone who actually knows how to develop the talent that is brought in whether it is a 1* or 5* type.
I don't know whether was Gus' first choice or not, but have you ever hired people? I've gone into numerous hiring situations over the years in which I thought I knew who I wanted but wanted to make sure. I interviewed several people and decided that I was right to begin with and hired that person. However, even if he wasn't Gus' first choice, what does that mean? You really think Gus or anyone else can just look across college football and hire whoever he wants? It means nothing.
I hear ya PM...but can you honestly tell me no other coach was offered? I have a feeling there was another offer. If there was then your example doesn't hold water.
