He received his acceptance letter last week. He is really pumped. Any suggestions for where he should live on campus? or better yet, where he shouldn't? Thanks!
Tell him congrats and to enjoy himself. The hill is an awesome place to live if he likes pretty young ladies.
I Believe Auburn and Love IT...4 Life!
You should prepare yourself to live with the consequences of your decisions, whatever they may be.
Sounds like the group of 2013 incoming freshmen will be an outstanding one. Second post of the day about sons getting accepted - Congrats to you and your son! War Eagle!

Congrats! Best of luck!
I played golf with my nephew (a senior) last summer at The Greens. I am not sure about the apartments, but I thought it was pretty cool having a golf course outside your door.
The wheels on the bus go 'round and 'round.
I know you said on campus but if you can, try to get him to put together 3 buddies and live at 328A east thach. It's a duplex behind "the birdcage", I believe it's through first realty now. It's spectacular.
I am a junior here now.. and I lived in the Village! It was great. Very nice dorms. You have individual rooms but you share a bathroom with one other person. (4 bedroom 2 bath separated by living room and kitchenette) A plus is the sorority dorms are in the village as well and there is a village dining which has the best food on campus. Everywhere else you share a room and have to share a bathroom with 3 other guys guys. The quad would be closer to the haley center which is where most of our core classes are taken and the village and hill are roughly the same distance from main campus, plus there is a very good transit bus system if you feel like being lazy or if its raining that takes you right next to the student center, which is next to the haley center. those are the only choices for on campus. WE and congrats to your son!
Congratulations, you should be proud. OUTSTANDING for your son!!
My son will probably join the military and I hope return to Auburn some day. He has decided he wants to get away and isn't ready for college. Not a bad route in this case. War Eagle!!!
Congrats to him! I live off campus, but I know that you definitely don't want The Hill. If you want to be closest to the center of campus, live in The Quad. Nicest residence halls are The Village.
Dyin' ain't much of a living, boy - you know who
I could get a contact number to a retired doctor who owns rental townhomes. I lived in one of his units from 06-09 and absolutely loved him as a landlord. He's very corteous and prompt if something needs fixing. It's in a phenomenal location! I had my mini schnauzer living with me and others that rent from him have dogs as well. Send me a private message if you'd like me to track down his number and pass it on to you!
I still park on the curb in front of my old unit I used to rent on gamedays!!!! It's exactly a 1 mile walk to the stadium (direct walking route) but only a couple blocks from Tiger rags and campus in general!
Quiet neighborhood - his townhomes are 2 bedroom 1 bath (full) and very large (rooms are really good size and so is overall sq footage - don't remember exacts). Washer/dryer hookups available as well fyi...
Anyone of you who posted about your child getting accepted and interested in a place to stay just private message me and I will get the info you need, I can also personally talk to you on the phone to describe it more if you so desire! I hated to move out of it, one of my favorite places to have ever rented and live =)
I go there now. The Village is definitely the nicest, The Hill is definitely the worst. The Village is pretty expensive though. The Quad is nice because its right in the center of campus, but it doesn't come close to the amenities that The Village has. Also, the new athlete dorms on S. Donahue are going to be opening up soon, and some non-athletes live there. Those will be nicer than The Village but more expensive, and they'll fill up fast. As far as off campus, 221 Armstrong is nice and within walking distance. Aspen Heights and Creekside are really nice out on Opelika Road, as well as The Grove back behind Old Row. Most apartments have the Tiger Transit pick up so distance isn't really that big of a deal, he may have to get up a little earlier than living on campus but its not a big deal. As far as where not to live, University Heights and University Village have pretty bad reputations, and I've lived at The Reserve on South College the past few years and it sucks. The apartments look really nice on the outside but are built cheap and are falling apart. My roommate and I had serious mold issues last year and requested multiple maintenance visits and they did nothing. Finally, after enough complaints they moved us to an upstairs unit where the hot water heater was faulty for the first month, and multiple other things that I wont continue to list, and they immediately moved new tenants into the downstairs unit. Needless to say, I cant wait to get out of there next year, all of our classes are in Lowder and Shelby so we're trying to find a condo on Magnolia or Glenn. If you're interested in that location, most of them are listed thru Tiger Realty. Hope this helps!
to all who posted, THANK YOU!I I will share all this great insight with my son and we'll get busy making a decision. War Eagle!!!
As far as offsite, my daughter lives at Creekside and loves it. If you do decide to look off campus, look around for sign up deals. Year before last, my daughter received a $500 gift card for signing a lease. I'm sure some places are still offering incentives.
