As usual, I agree with you. If we want to play "big boy football" then take a look at what the big boys are doing and get to doing it. I think a great place for us to begin would be to instill some discipline the likes of which these players have never seen. If they don't like it, so be it. Let the ones who don't like it leave if they don't want to conform. Recruit the best players and then don't allow them to become prima donnas, make men out of them. If they don't want to conform to the program, find some who will.

That's one of the reasons that I hope that nick sticks around for a little while longer. I want to beat them and beat them bad and I want them at their "best". No excuses that we wouldn't have been able to win again if he was still there. If you're going to be the best you have to beat the best. nick has rejuventated the program at uat. I want to see what he does against a rejuvenated AU.

As usual, all good points. Thanks for the rational input. In addition, Auburn does not has not completely cornered the market on excuse making. On sports radio here in Detroit, the bama dominance from last night was extrapolated to the entire SEC and the hosts were all saying the Big 10 will never compete with the SEC because the SEC teams all cheat. They also cited academic standards and weather as contributing factors.
You acknowledge reality and deal with it. You can run and cower in the corner and give up. You can rest on your laurels like we have with 2010. Or, you can pin your ears back, look the beast in the eye and go for the kill. It's going to take a toughness and discipline like none our kids have seen in a while. But, it can be done with right kind of leadership. That leadership and support is in place in my opinion.
So, leave the conspiracy theories alone and just look forward to the process and journey Gus is about to take us on.

I will agree with pretty much all of that EXCEPT....I really do not believe they are as good as they seem. aTm beat them at home much more convincingly than the score indicated. We all knew Notre Dame wasn't even close to being ready for Bama (or LSU or aTm or UGA for that matter). They are a very good football team. But it was a down year for college football in general. The biggest evidence of that is Notre Dame and Ohio State going undefeated. Neither team was very good. With eight new starters, Bama had a bone-crushing defense....except when they played teams with an offense (UGA, aTm). Ole Miss had one bad quarter against them (KO return for TD, 2 INTs on Bama's side of the field). Otherwise the game was very close.
Anyway, it's not as bad as it seems. We can be back in their faces much quicker that most would believe.

This is for the Auburn Family and everyone who played here before we did. I love ya'll, War Eagle!' Nosa Equae 10/19/13 Kyle Field Texas A&M
jadennis you are a true turd or bud you are living in a f up fancy world if you believe that horse sh$t that you just posted.
No doubt he's a good coach. No doubt he has benefited from UT collapsing, Auburn being schizo, and Les Miles being Les Miles. In all those 25 years you named has a coach had not 1 but freakin 3 archrivals give him a free pass? The answer is never.
No doubt he's benefitted from media love after monumental choke jobs the past two years at home. Only a few media darlings could shart themselves like that and still play for it all.
I can give them credit for playing great football but I also don't have to ignore the rest of the variables that worked monumentally in there favor. If all of our 1 loss teams had it so good we would be sporting double digit t-shirts
