It's pretty close. In the 70s we knew we didn't have a chance. At least now we have some talent and hope.

Which "we" are you referring to? Those sure weren't AU's record in those given years and if you're comparing the score in those early AU/uat games against '11 and '12, I don't call losing just one of those games by only 4 points "competitive". You need to look beyond 1975 to 1981 to really get a feel for what it was like to be an AU fan in Alabama in the '70's.

2012 was the largest point spread in iron bowl history. It could have easily been the largest defeat in iron bowl history. 2011 wasn't much better... We've now gone 2 straight years without scoring an offensive touchdown!
Judging by the Auburn crowd in JHW this year, not many fans had "hope", we deffinately didn't have the "talent".
Honestly, when do you see us being favored to win this game again?
