How many times has a team with a losing record won the Iron Bowl? I can only recall one in my lifetime... the 1984 game when Alabama with a losing record upset Auburn. And I hear there was one with Auburn in 1949 upsetting Alabama. Are there any others?
When Auburn goes into the game with a losing record, we are 3-16, with the wins coming in 1901, 1902, and 1949. We've lost 12 straight when we have a losing record.
Alabama is 3-11 when they come in with a losing record. The wins are 1903, 1951, and 1984.
Losing teams are 0-11 against teams with 10+ wins.
Bama came into JH in 2001 with a losing record and beat a pretty good Auburn team (don't remember the records)
Bama was 5-5 entering the 2001 game, Auburn 7-2. Both finished 7-5 on the season.

Looks like they were 5-5 after beating us, 4-5 coming into the game.
My previous list should have said that it was "losing record for the year", not "going into the game".
If you go with game-time records, Alabama is 4-8 when going into the game with a losing record...wins 1903, 1951, 1984, and 2001.
Auburn is 4-11, with wins in 1893, 1901, 1902, and 1949. We've lost 7 straight to them when we enter the game with a losing record.
Any way you cut it, it's gonna be bad.
I hope the PTB are scouring the country for a HR hire
Thanks, I forgot about the 9/11 games.
Similar question, how many times since the rivalry was renewed did a team's season end with an Iron Bowl victory?
Answer: five - Auburn in 1949, 1957, 1958, and 1993, Bama in 1984.
Auburn '99, Beta Zeta of Theta Xi
And with a "backup" QB in Adrew Zow who lit us up. It was over by mid 3rd Q.
