Happened upon this in the BOL.......thread was discussing the recruitment of Holcombe and "no room" concerns. Question asked and reply was about "scholly"? Anyone ever hear of a "Bryant Scholly"?
Uh - are we out of the picture for any other LB now? I could see us still going after Lo & McMillan (diff position) but wow a lot of LBers
He could possibly be getting a Bryant scholly, which is basically a freebie and would not count against this year's numbers.
You are crazy. The kid had offers from Ga tech, Vandy, MSU, NC State, several others. He is not going on a Bryant scholly. We lost him because we didn't have the guts to go for him. Said it all along.
Dude, shut up, he wasn't a top target, you don't know more than the coaches, no one cares about your love affair with Keith holcombe. It didn't happen and it ain't gunna.
Why So Serious?
why is pirate pushing so hard for this guy? maybe it's a love affair
Haha. Ummmm, no.
Kid was a Bama legacy. He wasn't coming to Auburn over Bama. Stop being foolish.
Besides, he was down our board.
the bryant scholarship is for the children of people who played for bryant and who choose to go to bama. jim bob harris' son is on the team and is a recipient of that scholly. there are limitations on their eligibility when they accept this scholly but I don't know the extent of the limitations. if tj yeldon's fater had played for bryant, they could not give 25 scholarships out to other players, given him a bryant scholarship, and then he is playing from day 1. I think that if the player is good enough to get on the field, he has to transition over to the 85 limit.
Ever to Conquer!!
Why even go over there.
I Believe Auburn and Love IT...4 Life!
You should prepare yourself to live with the consequences of your decisions, whatever they may be.
If your father played at bama you qualify for a Bryant Scholarship which covers books and tuition.
I'm wondering when this 'warpirate' troll is going to get suspended from this site. Our late friend 'obiewan' got canned for less, and though he tried to come back under a new troll name, that one has also seemingly disappeared. So.....when does this particular troll leave the site? I'll wait and watch with some interest. As for Bryant scholarships, I had a friend who played for Bear back in the late 60s and his son got one of these. He still had to make the scholarship limit status, which he never did, unfortunately. However, he did finish and graduate, and it really helped out my friend. By the way - we never talk football during the season - keeps our friendship alive!! WDE!!!
As the songs says - DON'T SLOW DOWN!! Eufaula, Alabama! WDE!!!
Yikes........why are you calling me names? Dang...........You might note NYCAubie's input........you seem to be a bit overly sensitive on the subject of Holcombe, don't you think?

Thanks pirate. Maybe we should get some better recruiters huh??
If you cant be honest....whats the point of being anything?
Doesn't matter. In football, if you take any other type of scholarship, you still count against the 85 limit. If he took it, he would have to wait 2 years to play to keep himself from counting against totals.
Rashaan Evans > Keith Holcombe....We didn't lose out on anyone. Sorry, but in a comparison, Holcombe doesn't have anything on Rashaan Evans....That's obvious considering our coaches aren't even after the kid.
I was going to put a witty joke here, but I forgot bama fans still use picture books. So I thought I'd expedite the process for you...
Worry only about things which you can change, the rest will either work themselves out or kill you......either way, no more worries.
