....and yes I'm a n00b and will act accordingly until I earn my stripes.
If a change is made would you support hiring B. Pertino as HC?
I've asked other places and it seems a very divisive topic. Now every AU person's face to face answer has ranged from "yes" to "HELL YES!". Not one person I speak with has said they wouldn't.
Is it a generational thing? Seems most of the younger people have said something to the effect that "we hired a nice guy last time" or "winning ball games is what a football coach is hired to do. Hire the best person for THAT."
Kids, (a) Changing speeds is more important than a curve ball (b) you play defense with your feet & (c) Wayne Hancock is the tits.
I was going to put a witty joke here, but I forgot bama fans still use picture books. So I thought I'd expedite the process for you...
"Townes used to say that there's only two kinds of music: the blues and zippity-doo-dah, and this ain't zippity-doo-dah." -Steve Earle
Yes, he's a winner and no different than any other winning coach. They all have personality flaws. We need a winner, not a preacher.
Great point, especially since those are our only two options....
1. Hire a preacher.
2. Hire the guy with the worst reputation in all of football.
If we could ONLY find a football coach that wasn't EITHER of those things.
kick 'em in the ass, big blue.
First off, I think BP is a fantastic coach. However, I do not think he would be the best choice IF, and only IF, Auburn was looking for a coach. I believe there are too many people on both sides of the BP fence and I truly believe Auburn needs someone who can bring all Auburn people together, young and old, male and female, whatever. just my thoughts.
My personal favorite would be Charlie Strong, but that is just my opinion.
I want whoever can and will win. If Petrino is the best that we can get as far as winning goes then get him. just throw a few moral clauses in there to cover your butt. The guy is a winner. Or we could just hire my pastor he is a great guy.
I know there's a lot of people that don't like Petrino, but if he came in and won 10 games off the bat like I think he could do, a lot of those people screaming no to high heavens about Petrino would all of a sudden be "All In" again. I know I'm about to have people tell me no matter if we won 3 National Championships in a row with Petrino that they still wouldn't support him and the team and all that, but that's a bunch of BS. Winning cures all in college football.
Here's a twist that I think could make or break this question: If asked, would CBVG agree to work for/with CBP.
Its interesting that Petrino hired CBVG onto his Falcons' staff as LB coach. Would it help if he was approached and gave the thumbs up?
Charlie Strong... before someone else grabs him!
