"An Auburn Man needs no introduction"
The coaches are not coaching at a high level.
The problem with hypotheticals is they are played out in a vacuum.
For example, let's say we hired ULM's coach 4 years ago (to use your example). Would we be better off? Would he have one Auburn a NC? Here's a better question - can you even name their head coach? Maybe he's at ULM because he is a great X's and O's coach but can't recruit.
Not degrading you cpa, just offering some fodder.
That's not my point. i meant just let em trade sidelines today. They out coached us badly. I realize they couldn't get it done year in year out.
But I believe you can't pull out one aspect of today (e.g. their coaches vs. our coaches) make a hypothetical about that specific point, and then extrapolate from their to the broader context that our coaches our inept and should be considered to be the overall problem.
There are so many other factors at play in the decision of the direction of the program than just what their coaches would have done with our players. I understand your original post was just kinda of a random thought based on what you saw in the game. But, when we are evaluating our program as a whole, I'm not sure it helps to clarify things.
The world is littered with great assistants whose skill set do not translate to being "The Man". I have discovered my great #2 managers seldom make great GM's. They usually try hard but few can let their #2's do their job without excessive expectations and inteference. My best GM's usually come come from charismatic 3's and 4's. That being said, if I was hiring for my flagship store the successful canidate would have a proven track record of running the show. Everyone does not have the it factor or the focus(credit Coach Curry) to get the job done; regardless. Beating laMo in OT is comparitive to running out of bud lt cases on Friday of 4th of July weekend.; it would not be expected of a 1st year GM and definately not tolerated by a 4th year one.The pressure and responsibilities of the 2 jobs may be light years apart but so is the compensation.
Today is a great day to love Auburn, a little better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.
WE COMING . WAR EAGLE !
They've got a QB with 4 years experience and we've got one with 3 games. I'll take that bet given that the only thing that changes is gameday decisions.
Yeah and if my aunt had balls she would be my uncle...Whats your point?
It is gettign very old listening to you explain just how bad our coaches are.....STEP UP AND TAKE Their job then.
the reall problem as you put it.....is that we as a fan bas have the attention span of a gnat. We think that just because we have BVG our d should be 1st in the nation no excuses. You also think that we should be able to seamlessly adjust to a pro style offense that is the polar opposite of where we were this time last year.
I would say the idea that you are being more "realistic" you arent giveng creedence to the real issue. Change doesnt happen overnight. Even though you could make it happen I know. maybe you should go over and let JJ and Chiz know that you are available....I am sure they will fall to their knees and thank god that you finaly came in to help them fix all their ailes!
Come on man!
WAR DAMN EAGLE!!!
If you cant be honest....whats the point of being anything?
No, the point was we were badly out coached today. Simply that.
And, as i have to repeatedly say because people overreact, the problem is the lack of progress from week to week starting back to last season. No one expects the D to be #1 or the O to be dominate...it's about getting better each week. We continue to look lost out there and against ULM. Miss State embarrassed us, and they aren't world beaters.
Why you and others always pull the "you think you could do better" argument is just silly. It shows a lack of being able to counter a point with anything rational and objective.
Let's see. A fumble on the five yard line, an interception, a misalignment on a touchdown throw, offsides penalty that keep a drive going for ULM. These are mistakes by players not coaching problems. Do you honestly think the coaches "coached" the players to do these. Get real. Minus the mistakes the score could have been 49-14. The coaches put players in position to makes plays then it's up to the players to execute.
I have a counter point to you.
things arent as easily solved as you may think. There are many moving parts and things take time to get done.
But if it wasnt for your never ending line of how awful all of our coaches are...you wouldnt get the "you think you could do better" argument. Its just that simple dont sit here and try to say we "maust do" this and we Must do that.
this game is much harder than you make it out to be. And the idea that NONE of our talent has made any progress is just silly. The defense to this point was comepletly handcuffed by TR being a slouch of a coach. And Gus may be an offensive genius but he is no developer of talent himself. these kids have had 9 months to change everything they do. And folks like you run around like they have been doing these things for 15 years and just cant do it. That is just as off base as the "you could do better" argument.
Look at texas. they went a complete 180 from where they were 3 yars ago.....They just now started looking like a top tier team.
So should they have fired the entire staff after the first year of the change over?
the Green Bay Packer GET PAID to play football.........And Dom Capers came in with the 3-4 and they have looked like bad college defenses....Should they FIRE DOM?? After thursdays game I would say NO.
The biggest issue that i have personaly is that we as a fan base expect all these coaches to change things over night and make us a top tier team OVERNIGHT after changing everything we were doing. And that isnt even close to reality. It is foolish to even think that would even happen.
The only reason the OC at bama is doing well is because it is THE SAME SYSTEM!
You may have come into this season thinking Win it all or else. But those of us that live in the real world expected there to be growing pains. Well here we are having those pains and you and the rest of your ilk are calling not only for us to fire CGC but lose all the new coaches because they obviuosly cant develop talent in 9 months and if that is true they are garbage.
Think about it with those ideas and you will have a much better season. We were NEVER going towin it all this year. And yes we were picked by anyone with a brain to go 6-6...even tough I thought and hoped we would do better they are turning out to be right. But what did they follow that up with......"But look out for the Tigers in 2013".
Things look bad right now because we are in season. But the next 12 months could define this program.....Do you want to start ALL OVER AGAIN and fire everyone top to bottom....Because i know you are smart enough to see that we would take a couple MORE steps backwards if that actually happend.. THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!
Again, that doesn't explain why our defense folded up tent. The fumble and int wasn't ran back by ULM for a TD. They drove down our throats. We should never be 2 turnovers and a penalty away from OT with the like of Louisiana-Monroe.
Yeah and they should never beat the #8 team in the country......BUT THEY DID.
Whats your next poor argument?
