let's see......i can probably get $600k a year outta auburn..still getting paid by usm.....buy myself a nice ranch up near gold hill...make some money....coach some football......and retire in auburn....sounds like a great gig to me.....
I bet you don't know Gold Hill like I know Gold Hill.
He'd likely get $700k to $800k from us, which would mean he gets nothing from Southern Miss (I think he made $700k at USM).
The real questions, to me, are two fold.
One, he looks a little at the rosters. FSU, from what we've seen on the field at least, gets the edge there. He can likely go in and make that a very, very good group and have a lot of success. Maybe he can do that at Auburn, but it would mean a lot of guys finally living up to potential that hasn't been realized so far.
And two, and this is probably the biggest question....does he want to be the defensive coordinator opposite a ludicrous-speed offense?
That might be what he really weighs.
And, well, I guess this would be the 3rd question...how much?
Will FSU match Auburn's offer?
Mark Stoops was at $590k this year. Van Gorder was at $850k.
My guess is Auburn would offer Johnson something in between that...maybe $700? Would FSU go that high? Maybe not....Stoops was at only $440k before getting the raise to $590k just last year. To think they would go another $100k+ above that seems like a stretch. But maybe not.

Kids, (a) Changing speeds is more important than a curve ball (b) you play defense with your feet & (c) Wayne Hancock is the tits.
"you're so vain, I'll bet you think this post is about you, don't you? Don't you?"
Seriously, don't take me too serious.
my grandfather bought a farm at gold hill in like 1933.....400 acres at $2.50 an acre.....or that is how the story goes...used to go up there all the time when i was a kid.....he and my grandmother lived on cedar crest in town.....he would teach his classes at the university and then go to the farm....my aunt and uncle are retired, they live there, close to the farm

If I'm Auburn, I double that $600K and make sure Ellis comes here. The OC will be relatively cheap assuming he comes with Malzahn.

I think if he had not thought about all of that he wouldn't have interviewed. From what I've heard they have been going back in forth with him for 3 or 4 weeks.
If I'm Ellis Johnson....I'm going to sleep, its past my bedtime.
