Here come the down votes I am sure, and I have been wondering if I should post this or not, but what the heck.
IMO we should be prepared for Kiehl to struggle for a while. I may be totally wrong about this, but I think he may be having some issues with reads, and my only basis for this is a gut feeling based on the interviews I have seen about his play, including Kiehl's himself, and I am in no way basing this on CGC waiting forever to name the QB, but it MAY have been a factor in the delay.
Everybody says he has the tools: a great arm, accuracy, and the running ability we are all aware of. Leadership of the offense doesn't seem to be an issue either, at least considering he is only a sophomore. But there is something I can't quite put my my finger on that leads me to believe he may be struggling with the reading the D part of the offense based on comments and interviews, both said and unsaid, and I could very easily be totally wrong: it has happened before back in '85 or so.
Please don't misunderstand me here, I am 100% behind his choice as starter, but we DO need to expect some growing pains IMO. Kiehl is a smart and talented guy, and will do great things for Auburn, but don't expect Pat Sullivan to be running on to the field a week from now. Next year? Maybe. But it doesn't matter to me, he is Auburn's QB.

There is nothing wrong with an opinion without it being laced with negativity... We should expect some growth and learning but I just hope it happens while they rack up victories WDE

Didn't Pat Sullivan throw 5 INTs in his first SEC road game as a varsity starter? Sullivan also played 5 teams with winning records that year and went 2-3, and was blown out in 2 of the losses. I think pretty much everyone that's starting their first year struggles with reads in this conference, unless they've redshirted and been a backup for several years. It's not controversial to expect KF or any other very young QB to struggle early.
Lol. My first DV.
I gave you a +1
Yeah, typically there is a learning curve for a new QB. No need to be apologetic in your realism. ...I hope that KF learns quick though!
No downvote from me! One thing that I would say is that a down hill rushing game is the biggest ally of a green qb. Simplifies things enormously and changes the math of the reads.
If the LBs are thinking run and even the S has to be thinking run support, then the keys to read get much more simple. Less imputs, less variables, so to say. I was feeling pretty good about that until I heard the news this am about Dismukes. Listen, not passing judgement on the lad.... but really bad timing.
I dont see how Chizik keeps from suspending him for a game.
You are just being a Realistic Randy. To struggle does not mean he won't be a winner.
