Seriously, don't take me too serious.
“Live for something rather than die for nothing.”
-General George S. Patton
I think we most certainly make good adjustments at the break. I also think that we are playing to our defense a lot in the games when we run a lot, or at least make an effort to stay on the field with sustained, slow drives.
That being said, if you think for two seconds that we wouldn't score or stop them at any point in time if they thought they could, you would be wrong my friend. That being said, I don't think we are holding back in the first half just to see what the other team is going to do. That would be nuts. "Give me your best shot and if I can take it, I will beat you."
I don't think we have played all four quarters yet this year. We play to sporadic. If we play all four quarters it will be a beautiful scene.
You guys need to factor in the QB's. Every team we've faced so far had a QB that could make plays with his legs. If you play bump and run it leaves a lot of space out there. It's not the DB's, we're getting great pressure with our D-Line, but our LB's break out of coverage to quick. It all goes on a 4 count, if the front 4 gets there in 2 to 3 the QB has to get out of the pocket. When he does our LB's come up for the tackle, that leaves a gap for him to dump the ball off. The key is to stay in your zone a split second longer. Another thing on the bump and run, Blake has 5 catches and 3 TD's, go back and look at the other teams DB's on those scoring plays.
BOTTOM line our corners stink they play 8 to 10th yards of the receiver thatst how Bama was able drive and beat us last year and they still haven't corrected it and its no excuse its not like they are freshmen we have a dominant front but after that is a big drop off everybody say Spurrier was crazy for taking Garcia out the game but at least he has the guts to pull you if you're not playing well we should do the same we have Arkansas coming up if we don't get it corrected I hate to say but we will be in for a long 60 mins just keeping it real we dominated la monroe but check out they're passing yards ridiculous we could have a special year but WE DON'T HAVE THE CORNERS TO COMPETE YET BOTTOM LINE I hope Ryan Mallet catches the flu or something if not unless we get some major pressure on him we are in for a long day I HOPE I'M WRONG!!!!!!!!
Since the topic wandered, as it usually does, to Ryan Mallet:
Look at the Bama game. They didn't press him at all in the first half. Left people back in coverage instead and Ryan picked them apart slowly. It wasn't till the second half when they started to stunt, bring backers in or safeties on the rush that he started to get wild. Ryan, despite his large frame, is not very fast at all. I thought he was faster last year for some odd reason but he's not. Slow as Christmas and not only that, he is a big guy making an easy target. I feel like the game plan on him will be: keep him out of the pocket on the run as much as possible in hopes he will make a mistake.
You are right though, they are going to be a stiff opponent to anyone, especially us with our DB's backed off the WR's. I don't see how they can do that all game and not mess up though. I feel like, if we get a lot of pressure we can have a big sack day on Mallet, knock him out of his rhythm or knock him out. Best of the two being the last. : )
