away last night. What a stupid outrage!! But, I forgot who runs our athletic department. Never mind... another stupid decision by our "leaders." Crazy, just crazy.
From what I understand, they were only turned away if they did not want to pay $5. If you wanted to get in free you should have been in line earlier (first 1500). It's not like the AD keep the "first 1500 rule" a big secret. Come on folks it's $5. Pay $5, go to the game, enjoy,... STOP WHINNING!
Some were apparently told they would have to pay full price but the bigger point is our athletic department "leadership" would rather have empty seats than allow students in for free. No wonder basketball has such a hard time being a big time program at Auburn.
If they were told that,.. then that's not good and sounds like a communication problem with the ticket takers (which needs to be corrected). The students who got there early and got in free,... The early bird... you know the rest.
"you're so vain, I'll bet you think this post is about you, don't you? Don't you?"
Basketball tickets were a buck when I was at AU. A beer at Harry's was a buck, too........student bball tickets should never be more than one cheap beer.....
That sounds familiar.
I bet CTB would not be happy with you suggesting that AU B-ball is not worth one cheap beer. Anyway, I think anyone could muster up a 5 spot for a little entertainment. Hell, If your funds are tight, spend 15 minutes helping old lady Gertrude next door, I'm sure she would pay $5 bucks for it.
If students walked away because they didn't want to pay $5, then the price is too high. Regardless of how you feel about it, that is a fact. Filling that arena is much more important than any revenue $5 tickets might provide the Athletic Dept.
I don't think that they think it is too high,... it's more like that they feel "entitled" to free tix. Follow the rules,..get in line to be the first 1500 and enjoy the free game. If you can't do that, pay $5 and enjoy the game. Simple.
I agree with you.......as a student, I would have been sure to be one of the first 1500 in line. I just think they need a plan.............like opening the section with the AU on it to students as overflow. They could still be part of the jungle and help the team....they were loud last night. They are more useful ,jammed, together, than, split up all over the place.
We had a lot of students sitting around us last night...........$1.00 or $5.00 is not the point. Get them in the games and fill the seats. The scholly seats not being used look awful on TV and that needs to be corrected as well....the cost of a beer was not meant as a cut on CTBs team.....just a reference point to the average student budget. Starbucks works, as well, but, I drank a lot more beer , than, coffee, at AU.
