Nobody should be questioning Trooper Taylor's abilities on the recruiting trail or as a WR coach. Troop's first year here, Darvin had more yards than any WR we'd had in a decade or more. His 10 TDs in 2009 were as many as Tubs' favorite walk-on Rod Smith had for his entire career.
Knox was the worst position coach Auburn has had in at least 25 years. Every good thing our WRs did from 2006-2008 looked like an accident.
Some receiving stats for Auburn the past few years...
Our top 3 WRs combined numbers under Knox:
2004 - 1,609 yards, 17 TDs (Taylor, Obomanu, Aromashodu)
2005 - 1,139 yards, 11 TDs (Obomanu, Aromashodu, Mix)
2006 - 1,203 yards, 6 TDs
2007 - 1,237 yards, 8 TDs
2008 - 802 yards, 1 TDawful.
2009 - 1,887 yards, 18 TDs (Adams, Zachery, Fannin)
2010 - 2,122 yards, 19 TDs (Adams, Zachery, Blake)
2011 - 911 yards, 6 TDs (Blake, Reed, Stallworth... All three missed significant playing time)
your right, Knox should take the rap for the 2008 offensive debacle.
again, i think you have serious tunnel vision here. completely different coaching philosophies on both sides of the ball.
saying that, he wasnt very good.
i did not realize knox only had him for 3 months. i never made arguement, on either side, for either coach. You made the arguement that T Zach had better stats under Trooper. Are stats not usually improved over the course of a career due to development and experience? i also said, one could argue the same with nall vs grimes. im just being objective. No one can say for certain that Trooper is the sole reason Darvin was successful.
the whole knox thing was just an example. it is my opinion that Trooper is a better recruiter, teacher and motivator than Greg Knox. My point is, there are too many factors that determine the results of this sport. did not mean for this to be about Greg Knox and Darvin Adams.
haha his career was certainly underwhelming.
