“they ain't got nothing but people...Alabama mystique...Georgia mystique...they’ve done it with people. Hell, we’ve got people, too.”Pat Dye
I agree to an extent. I almost stop being apart of this family, not because we are 0-2, and not because the posters on this board are critical of the team we all love, bit because most posters on this board take it to the next level. I believe in critcizing family to make them better, but when you start down talking the players and coaches we all loved before the season, as well as the overall leadership of our great program, it's just rediculous. I'm nervous that our own fan base will be downfall of our wonderful program. There is a good and evil to everything, and it hurts to say that our on so called "Family" members are the bad to our great program. It's ok to be critical, but have faith.

bahaha. His caps lock has Torretts.
I was going to put a witty joke here, but I forgot bama fans still use picture books. So I thought I'd expedite the process for you...
Worry only about things which you can change, the rest will either work themselves out or kill you......either way, no more worries.
"This is not what I signed up for".....but it's "family"?
Your whole speech is somewhat of a contradiction isn't it? You don't "sign up" for what family you are a part of, and you certainly don't just walk out of it when other family members don't behave in a way you expect.
If you're part of the family, you're part of the family, regardless of how you handle stress, how you handle failure, how you react to tough times, how you show patience or lose patience, etc.
If you don't like how others react....too bad. Honestly, that's the only thing I can offer. Too bad. It doesn't make them LESS of a family member.
Some people are critical.
Some have a short fuse and don't tolerate things.
Some are patient.
Some are a bit emotionally detached, and just roll with whatever the next day brings.
Some are willingly blind to bad news.
Some refuse to accept any critical evaluation of their family and call anyone that does it a "bammer" or obviously not a "real fan". (I have a feeling these are the same parents who refuse to believe their kid did anything to get in trouble in school and their kid isn't starting on the team because the coach is an idiot, not because someone is better than their own kid...but that's just a hunch).
Some launch into melt down mode at the first incomplete pass.
Some hold out hope that we'll turn it around, even at 0-11.
Some deem any negative thoughts to be "anti-Auburn".
Some believe any critical evaluation of Auburn can only originate in Tuscaloosa.
Some are critical of anything a coach does that doesn't end with a national title.
Some tie a love for Auburn directly to the posts made regarding football decisions.
But at NO point in this vast array of family members do you, or anyone else, have the right to draw the line and state that everyone on the other side of that line is not acting like a "real" family member, or must not love Auburn, or isn't "all in", or is obviously a "bammer".
Disagree all you want, I do it all the time, but the family is the family, and you walking away from it doesn't make it go away or any less true.
A family of 5 or 6 can be pretty darn diverse. What do you expect to find in a family of thousands?

kick 'em in the ass, big blue.
The point was lost before anyone ever read the entire post.
My point is this.....
I know what my reaction would be so it is time for me to take a step back and breath for a few days. Maybe that should have been the only point I made.
However at this point I am now calm enough to actually engage in quality sports talk about AU.
However to some point I am still staying at arms length. The same situation is going on as when I posted this. The board is still full of "Fire this coach" "Pack your bags to this coach".."whats the Buyout".. And that is insane and to be blunt just down right dumb. Change never comes easy. And firing and letting coahces go based off of two games is still pretty damned short sided.
But thanks for your clarification of my message.
And to those that question what a part of Family others are. Bandwagon fans are at every school and they buy in only when times are good. They are not Family....they are fariweather. I have worn my colors and my passion on my sleve no matter the outcome of a game no matter the sport. I have worn them since birth and will wear them when i die. What I did to ge that passion or to be a part of the family is none of anyones business and no matter wether I went to Au (which i Did) worked at AU (Which I did as well) or have Family that went or worked at AU (which I do as well). Being part of this Family is being part of something special. And you cant get it until you get in it!
WAR DAMN EAGLE (yuk it up NWO I like caps lock and will never apologize for it. So stuff it if you dont like it)
If you cant be honest....whats the point of being anything?
Do what you feel you need to... But I will say that staying to continuing to scream from the roof-tops (or forum boards) that Auburn IS the best team and University in the nation, no matter what, is what being an Auburn fan is all about... Not listening to the nay-sayers and bandwagoners of the world... WDE.

However I have made mistakes in HOW I say things and am trying to be more respectful. When this post was made i had just been very DISRESPECTFUL to fellow AU fans. And thats not fair. No matter the opinion I should be more understanding.
WAR DAMN EAGLE!
From TRR aka Captain Caps lock!
I love that this thread turned into a argument for what qualifies people as an Auburn fan.
Just my but if you have to have a "connection" to a team in order to be a fan how do you explain the NFL? I had never been to San Fransico but pulled for them back in the Montana to Rice days.... So I suppose no one that lives in Alabama is allowed to cheer for any NFL team? FranklyI don't care if you went to Auburn or just wear an Auburn T Shirt on gamedays and listen on the radio as long as you are pulling for Auburn.
Good luck RanRob War Eagle.
