Muschamp wouldn't take Auburn job because of Jay Jacobs. That's what scares me about this hire. Auburn has a reputation and a proven coach isn't coming here. Auburn always has and always will settle for whoever will take the job. Barfield, Dye, Bowden, Tubby and Chizik. Not a single one of these was successful before being hired by Auburn or our first or second choice. Why do we think Auburn is such a good job? Nice facilities but horrible commitment and commitment to a coach is much more important than facilities.
Cool story bro.

Dooley was successful at La Tech. Not big time program, but your point is valid. I just wish we would do something we've never done before and go out and hire a proven big time coach. I'm just not sure we can get one to accept. We have never hired our first chose because we get rejected by our first and second choice every time. Lets do what it takes this time. WDE!!!
Dooley was 17-20 at LA tech....not that successful and 4-8 his last year there
Give me a break. No team at Auburn's level would put up with a coach that goes winless in the conference. Only 2 of those losses were even close. Auburn is committed to any coach that will demand excellence. Gene is not such a coach.
Lache to Auburn.
