Coaches are getting a lot of heat and rightfully so. But let's not forget about the players being a part of this disaster also. They are not mentally tough, they are not executing the basics that were taught in HS not too mention at the college level. ANybody who thinks the coaches just hold practice sessions to occupy the time is a rose color glasses viewer. I do not excuse the coaches especially the HC for this mess. The risk is just as great if you come down too hard on them as it is y not coming down hard enough. If you don;t believe it watch how many players get moved to the sidelines quietly after a new coach comes in. When CTT came in after bowden he disposed of more than 30 players and the first season AU played with only 58 scholly players on the team..
If you doubt the issues then rewatch the game and look at the mistakes. I counted more than 50 before I stopped watching. Twelve by one player..
There is no reason to be critical of the players... They give their blood, sweat and tears for Auburn football. Most do not understand the sacrifice these guys make.
In the words of Heath Evans (its the coaches, you build players)
“Discipline, structure, accountability, and most importantly, mental and physical toughness,” he said. “It’s non-existent. It’s absolutely pathetic, and I know those are harsh words, but see, the thing about mental and physical toughness is, they’re created. They really are. I can show you the man that looks the biggest and the toughest, and most likely, I can put him in some circumstances where he’d crumble. Great coaches know how to make great men, and they’re built. You don’t come out of the womb with great character, great discipline, great emotional and physical fortitude. Those things are created in you by great men. …
In the words of Heath Evans the players weren't doing squat in the weight room, no pun intended. Yes, I blame the players to a degree and I think it is highly questionable that they are giving their blood, sweat and tears for Auburn football.
WE COMING . WAR EAGLE !
I respectfully disagree some. The players are responsible for some of this. If they have any pride at all, they would attempt to put a good product on the field. They don't care how bad they make Auburn look. These were highly ranked recruits when they signed. I believe they have bonded together, in a bad way, to do any and all they can to lose every SEC game. Doing a damn good job of it too.
