How do you feel he did this cycle?
Excellent as usual, he has spread the Auburn brand and gave it a heck of a run with the top recruits in the country. Glad he is on our side.
Quite sure you are not
"you're so vain, I'll bet you think this post is about you, don't you? Don't you?"
Alabama delenda est.
Alabama fans love Alabama football
Auburn fans love Auburn University
Why are people content with that "We gave it a heck of a run" mentality. In recruiting it doesn't mean piss or beans if you don't come in first ... In the famous words of one Ricky Bobby "If you ain't first, you're last!"
Why can't anyone be honest on this site? If it's good-it's good, if it's bad- it's bad. You shouldn't be abused for telling the truth. You tell me how he did since he is considered the recruiting co-ordinator.

The evidence is strongly against your statement....
For instance, we won a national title two years ago. Know when the last time we finished 1st place in national recruiting was? Not once in the past decade+. I think you'd be surprised other schools with the same story.
Mind you, I'm not saying finishing first doesn't increase your chances, it just isn't the "piss or beans" you make it sound.
And if we had Tubby's bunch where would we be with any of those recruits??....would not have gotten our foot in the door.....would you prefer not trying so you don't get upset??
Reality here is that we have done pretty poor for following up a National Championship with a top class. We are paying for big time recruiters and they seem to have missed pretty bad this year. Having said that, if we can land 3/4 in Darby, Louis, Diggs, Patterson... it would still be a decent class and you never know who develops into impact players. I do think Pike will be a good one, once he matures a bit. Concerned on the defensive side of recruiting.
We just won a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP in 2010! We have one of the best recruiting staffs over the last 2 years- we fell flat on our face this year! The recruits you mentioned are 3-4 star recruits and we're glad to have them at Auburn. My issue is that of the 15 difference makers we persued (I listed them above) we got 1 (Jacquay Williams) and weren't sure we had him until the last minute when he announced. If your gonna take credit for being a great recruiting staff when things go well- then take the heat when things don't!!!! For some reason we have been unable to close the deal with these kids- they leave Auburn on visits as their leader or in the top 2- but on signing day we get shut out. I'm a lifelong Auburn fan and bleed orange and blue- but we got our asses whipped in recruiting this year and there has to be a reason.
I still think this cycle can be a great success but it would require us knocking it out of the park from here on out:
4 out of those 5 would still make this class a huge success, imo.
So are you saying you don't think any of the kids we DID sign will be difference makers? If so, just hide and watch. I think some of these kids will make a huge name for themselves and for AU in the coming years.
“they ain't got nothing but people...Alabama mystique...Georgia mystique...they’ve done it with people. Hell, we’ve got people, too.”Pat Dye
Cause they are content at having records like 7-5 or 8-4 and always going to the chick-fil-a bowl. I am not. I want better for Auburn. I want Auburn to have 14 national championships. I want Auburn to win the west every year. Be real face the facts the coaching staff was not able to close. Luper was not able to close.
This thread smells.like a free suit iyam
Almost every one of his posts are attempts to troll our fan base. Pretty sure this one deserves to be pushed back...
I agree & approve of this post...

May have the toughest job of any assistant in American when it comes to recruiting Mobile.
tigerbred-your exactly right. The more and more I read some of these post-it makes me sick that Auburn fans are satisfied "just to be considered as one of the top 2" by a recruit. The facts are that we spread the love to the west coast and we let several in-state and Ga recruits go elsewhere. As an Auburn fan, I want to win on the field, off the field , recruiting, etc. Wonder if these same fans will be happy with a 4-6 season - that's about what this recruiting season amounts too. We gave good effort- BUT!!!!!!
and Scott Fountain is the guy who lays all the recruiting framework and does the real logistics of the recruiting process. He is the backbone of it.
Thats what I am trying to say and most times get blasted as a bammer or something. I want the best for Auburn I dont want to settle. I want the prettiest girl at the prom. Auburn can and should do better. Auburn fans should demand this from our atheletic departments. Not just football.
