Craig Sanders has been one of my favorite players since he got here but hasnt made it as a starter at DE. I wish the coaches would give him a shot at MLB. At 260 lbs+ with his speed and as aggressive he is i think he would be a stud run stopper at MLB. He couldnt be worse then any other mlb we have put out there. Any thoughts? War Eagle!
Craig Sanders gives great effort but just as Meat and Holland, lacks the athletic ability to be good at this level.
Special teams is a place a tough, effort giving walk on can make plays and be productive but Craig's snaps on defense diminished the day Carl Lawson signed. I do not believe a move to linebacker would benefit him or the defense. He is an Auburn man and I am proud of him but he is lacking some talent. I like my crow with garlic if I am served.
As long as it's not Vidal Sassoon.
I say put him at MLB
Disagree that CS does not have the athletic ability to play SEC ball. He does, but he does not have the lateral movement for a LB. He is a monster and will play a lot at DE this year. He has just had the misfortune to play behind exceptional DEs at AU.
He could play as a stand up DE in situations, as well as move inside in certain situations because of his wuickness and strength. He has FB savvy and is a ST's guru.
I never said play him as an every down lb but he could come in on running or goal line situations. I dont think he would be great in passing down but as a run stopper i think he could fill in some gaps

oh he can play SEC ball, i just said he doesnt have what it takes to be good. Craig has 23 tackles, over half of those on special teams and only 2 sacks in 3 years. Honestly, I do not know how much he will play. Delaine, Harrell, President, Owens, Ford, Lawson and Nosa are all more athletic and with a healthy S & C program and good coaching, those young guys could all be fighting for time.
Malzahn approves of NOW Boot Camp! Well...not really...but he would if he knew about it :) www.nowbootcamp.com
Well as much as I'd love to see him play I just don't think that's going to happen. He is going to be a senior and really has not done anything outside of special teams play his freshman year.
I know we recruited him to play DE from the beginning but I also remember he had committed to play with the other team from across the State as a linebacker. So they obviously saw something in him that made them think he could play LB. It all goes back to not being able to develop players once the got on campus. I believe this will change in the future. But I hate it for CS, he just never got any better from his freshman year and I blame that on former coaching staff.
