No war is over until the enemy says it's over. We may think it's over, we may say it's over, but the enemy gets a vote. - Gen. James Mattis
The thing that kept him off the field at two SEC programs was:
1. @uat - he was a freshman that was moved to DB his second day there. So he transferred.
2. @AU - had to sit his first year due to NCAA transfer rules and suffered a knee injury later that spring and suffered a concussion just days before the season started when he was tackled in practice and caught a knee to the side of the head from an airborne Dee Ford flying over the top of the pile in trying to avoid contact after the play was blown dead. Not only that, He twisted his ankle as well and had to recover from that. Moreover, Corey was playing behind OMac whom Luper and Chizik were determined to build his draft stock as much as possible in hopes to get him drafted so that the would have something to sell recruits on this year after such a dismal season. And lastly, Chizik will only play newcomers when he himself is a newcomer to the program but he then has a blind faith in his veterans and demands that the new guys earn their time on scout team and as a backup unless it's just so blatantly obvious that he must play a new guy. Corey would not have won anymore games for us than OMac did so there was no added benefit to playing Corey ahead of OMac and risking OMac's chance at being drafted (even if it's the last pick of the draft) and lose that selling point for recruits. And Malzahn doesn't tell every playmaker that we recruit that they can be the wildcat guy. He never told Corey that and he never told Mason or Blakeley that.
I think Grant would be a great option for the jet sweep role. Mason and the JUCO back in between the tackles, I just hope Mike Blakely fits in somewhere as well.
I am with you on that, MB has a lot of potential IMO, I really hope he sticks around and flourishes next season!
"Get in where you fit in." Life is, Too Short TL;DR
