TT was recruiting players to HIM not Auburn. This goes to show everybody that TT was a polarizing figure. We finally see what was going on behind the scenes!
I'm with Gus & the Bus!
I wouldn't say that is clearly evident. Don't throw TT under the bus before you know all the facts.
Malzahn approves of NOW Boot Camp! Well...not really...but he would if he knew about it :) www.nowbootcamp.com
WE COMING . WAR EAGLE !
Neither side has to be "wrong" in this case. They are only doing what any of us would do in their situations.
Auburn from day one.
Like turning an ocean liner in a bath tub. You are going to lose some water.
Yep. He is divisive, although he might not intend to be.
I think that is way, way over simplifying things.
He recruited to Auburn, I have no doubt about that. He used our facilities, our history, our gameday experience, etc....he used all of that. But he also sold himself, which is what any good recruiter does.
Any good recruiter is going to sell the fact that they care about you, that they will be there for you, that the parents can count on them to help build the kid into a man, that he can teach them responsibility, etc. That's part of the deal, that's part of what they do and how they get the responses and commitments that they get.
Trooper is pretty charismatic and pretty unique....it's not at all surprising to me that the kids feel a great connection with him. You and I think Auburn is special, but to a kid that hasn't lived his life there yet, there isn't a HUGE difference between Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, etc. The main difference to these kids are the people at each place...the coaches, the personalities, the relationships.
Once all of those things are gutted, you're left with weight rooms, practice fields, stadiums, history, and the fans. Honestly, those things are good everywhere. It's the people that are the difference.
I agree. Maybe if I saw TT drawing plays or devising a strategy on the sideline during a game instead of waving a towel & chest-bumping players,I would'nt be so critical!

Good observation, chickasaw. Ya'll remember a couple of years back, Trooper's son got into a pissin' contest with his basketball coach over hair length ? Trooper took his son's side. A small issue, in and of itself. However, IMO a huge mistake on the part of a dad, particularly one who is a coach himself, in response to an authority figure. A kid's hair length has absolutely nothing to do with his ability to play ball, but taking issue with your coach over a very long standing policy that is not going to adversely affect your life any any way, shape, or form;......................bad form. I started wondering then about Trooper and his affect on this team. I believe that wondering was well warranted.
