All this talk about trying to save the Big 12, and the position they are in is their own fault. When Nebraska and Colorado bolted last year, and the talk was of conferences going to 14/16, their decision to stay at 10, made them weak and vulnerable. They should have at least added 2 teams, to maintain the status quo. Probably could've gotten BYU and TCU or Boise, or Air Force.
"Alabama fans love Alabama football, Auburn fans love Auburn" -- Patrick Fain Dye
Texas is what destroyed the Big-12. Texas assumed the rest of the schools in the conference could not exist outside the shadow of Texas. Once the schools started leaving Texas realized that it needed them as much or more than they needed Texas. Damage is done.
It is going to be a lot of fun to watch.
Their hands were tied last year. They had no hope of luring anyone new to the conference because of the way the revenue sharing is set up, which favors Texas > Oklahoma > Everyone Else, and they knew if they changed it that Texas would bolt. Been a lame duck since Nebraska decided to go. Colorado benefits immensely in football from the influx of California recruits.
