Did anyone see the basketball scrimmage for the Tip Off Club last night and what was your impression?
no I didnt, man i wish people could get behind the basketball program, and they could get out of the bottom and get good. would love to see the fan base get behind them but unfortunately it wont happen until we are more successful which it does look like it is building upwards. its hard to get better recruits when their is no fans getting to games or getting behind them even tho i know there isnt much to get behind lately on the court
It would help if the people covering Auburn sports were there. If I was the AD for Media I would give football press passes strictly based on attendance at and articles written for basketball events. That would increase exposure 20-fold
not that bad. but its just not us either its most of the sec which is crazy considering how much we love football. im not even a big basketball junkie , I just love sports except for college baseball , cant do that because baseball is just so hard to watch
I've heard Barbee is really excited about this team. We will find out very quickly if there is a reason to be excited about it.
I was there. We are more athletic than we have been in some time and I think we are going to have more basketball savy than ever before. Sullivan looks like he is finally healthy. Chubb has put on weight and looks like an SEC center. I understand that he has worked very hard on his game during the off season. Noel Johnson looks healthy and is shooting it well. Wallace is shooting it better and plays defense with a passion.
Of the newcomers, I think Price and Greene will help us the most. Both can get to the rim and create for others. Price looks like he could play MLB for us right now. I think he is about 6'5", 225. Keep a watch out for Shareif Adamu 6'8" about 230. Very aggressive in rebounding the basketball and may be the guy to do the dirty work. Shaq Johnson is just a freak. He can jump out of the gym. He has some work to be done in some areas but I understand he has been working hard on his jump shot.
Joining the Tip-Off Club is easy and will get you into events like this one. We had dinner with the players and coaching staff after practice. Shoot me a pm and I will point you towards the right people to join. It is a good way to get behind CTB and support the program.
We should once again support the team. The support was growing in each of the first two seasons untill in each season we regressed. No matter what this team starts like, it needs to get better throughout the year. The thing that really puts up Ws during the year is coaching. IMO, each of Barbees first two teams were a worse team at the end than at the beginning of the year. That is coaching. That's MY Opinion. He has some talent, Height, Depth, Experience. All the intangibles to take a mediocre team at best, into a salty, gritty, winning team that is at the very least around %500 in the SEC at the end of the year. This is the year to see improvements in coaching. We all know what great recruiting does without decent coaching!
CTB has more talent this year and more guys who can play the kind of offense and defense that he likes to play. We could not do that the first two years he was here. I am very excited to see what this team can do.
With regard to coaching, I think he did an amazing job with the players he had to work with. There were many times coming out of a timeout or on an inbound play that we had guys open for the looks we wanted and the shots just didn't fall. The guy can coach and I think this year will show that.
I would have to disagree with you on most all of your points. Barbee inherited one of the worst situations possible. He has done amazing things with very limited talent. This is why you feel they tail off at year's end. They have to grind harder every game simply to stay in games. This wears a team down through the course of a season. Lack of depth also shows up late. This is without doubt the first team that he has had with athleticism and some depth to go with a little senior leadership. Proof is always in the end result, but this should be a much improved team.
Another quick note. It looks like CTB is enjoying himself. I think he thinks he will be able to do some things this year he hasn't been able to do in the past. Very intense at practice but I saw a few smiles.

"you're so vain, I'll bet you think this post is about you, don't you? Don't you?"
We are looking for new members to the Tip Off Club. If you are an Auburn Basketball fan you should really consider joining. For more info you can PM me and I will get you in touch with the proper people. We have alot of new stuff going on this year we are excited about. We have some really good speakers lined up along with a few tailgates before home games. Very exciting year ahead of us. Trying to also work in a couple road games. Look forward to hearing from you.
