I hate to say it, but at 2-5 with a stretch of bad losses from an RPI standpoint, I wonder if our basketball season is basically already over. If you remember a couple of seasons ago, UAT won 25 games and went 12-4 in the SEC but couldn't crack the top 50 in RPI and had to settle for the NIT because they had some bad losses in the fall. It seems that, barring a miraculous SEC run, the Big Dance is out, and it will take a remarkable turnaround even to make the NIT. Or am I being too pessimistic? I really thought this season might be the tipping point for Barbee's team. Auburn is a tough place to win.

It's a little early yet. Barbee inherited a mess. jacobs stayed with lebo two years too long and it showed. To me, an NIT bid is the goal this year at best. The talent level has improved but we still don't have but 4 or 5 players that would being playing (not starting)on the tops schools in the conference.
