Auburn men’s track and field team is ranked No. 5 nationally and the women's team No. 21 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Team Computer Rankings released Tuesday.
“We are excited about being one of the top ranked teams in the country to start outdoor season,” Auburn coach Ralph Spry said. “It is great news to find out that the men’s team is ranked highly starting the outdoor season, but it’s also good for the women to receive recognition. That lets us know that people recognize the type of teams we have. We now have to back that up and earn that position.”
In the men’s rankings Auburn is one of eight SEC programs in the top 25 and four in the top five overall. Texas A&M, Arkansas and Florida make up the top three. The women’s list features six SEC programs in the top 25 overall.
Auburn opens the 2013 outdoor season on March 28 at the Texas Relays in Austin and March 29 at the Yellow Jacket Invite in Atlanta.
