Even at 5-0 last season, I wasn’t completely sold on Auburn.
I knew how precariously thin the Tigers were. I knew how dependent they were on Ben Tate, and I knew how drained they would be on defense the second half of the season.
I also knew it was Gene Chizik’s first tour through the SEC as a head coach.
Well, here we are again, and this time, I’m sold on the Tigers.
So much so that I can very clearly see a scenario where that Alabama-Auburn game on Nov. 26 is for the Western Division championship.
Even if Auburn loses a game between now and then, winning against Alabama would give the Tigers the head-to-head tiebreaker and send them to Atlanta as the West representative.
What makes me think they can get to that point?
For one, Cameron Newton...

Just read that. I certainly hope he is right. It is interesting to see him trying to catch up to and climb on that Auburn bandwagon. Oh well, heinseight is always 20/20, and if they weren't now writing positive things about the team we'd complain about that. So grab a seat Chris! Let see how far this ride goes, it should be fun no matter what.

Same guy that didn't pick us two weeks in a row, in games we were FAVORED. Obviously he is having a hard time judging how good Auburn is, looking through those Crimson colored glasses he so often wears. The average person picking games, which he does every week in a column, would at least pick the favored team instead of not. At least more often then not. That being said, this post is a "I am sorry" card from Lowe. I'll take it though.
I follow him every day so I know but have you seen how many posts he makes on an Alabama game Saturday? Writes one or two about every other game and then 5-6 super long articles about Alabama. I am not a hater but I would like to read about all the other teams as well.
At this point, the world has now seen Cam Newton, an improved defense and special teams that are no longer a liability. We're getting some love now for that, but everything depends on performance in October.
And to quote my friend eagleair, aka Seraph: "This team is fun to watch."
Re: Cam Newton - Personally, at this point I would rather have him than Tebow. I think he is as good a runner, and a better passer. I also like his attitude and humility.
Fearless And True
I think we are in it for the long haul however we will know more in two weeks. We better score and score often against Ark because they will score against our pass defense. Anybody know who was wearing #11 last week, he played cornerback for the entire 4tn quarter with no name on his jersey and we don't have a #11 on the roster.
Cam's a lot better runner. Tebow could lower his head and get first downs, Cam can score from anywhere. Plus Tebow threw with a funny motion that made some throws hard to catch. Giving Tebow his due, he was tough, a great leader and a true role model. I watched some old tapes of Bo today and was amazed to see how similar their running styles are. Like Bo, Cam can cut on a dime and has that burst of speed after changing direction. What's ever stranger? After 2 games every one started to refer to him by his first name. John Saunders said before the season that by October Cam Newton would be a household name. Unlike Bo he starts every play with the ball in his hands, that's scary.WDE

Alabama is the defending national champion, ranked No. 1 and has won 19 consecutive games. Hard for someone in his position not to give them a lot of attention.

I agree Phillip... it puzzles me how some on here think that just because a reporter praises Bama that they are Bama homers or Bama lovers... I can't stand them as much as anyone but you can't deny the fact that they have won 19 games in a row and a national championship.. until someone knocks them off they are still on top and there is nothing we can do about it except do what everyone else tries to do and that is beat them... if you wanna be the best you gotta beat the best....

I follow Chris everyday as well... I think he is a very fair reporter. He has given Auburn a lot of attention lately... He does a very good job in my opinion. Phillip, I love the new site... Thanks again for all you and Brian do...
