Auburn's basketball team pulled within one point of Illinois inside the final five minutes but couldn't hold on Saturday at Chicago's United Center. Illinois held on at the free throw line in the final two minutes. Despite the loss, iIt was probably Auburn's most complete game of the season.
Story to come.
Looks like we beat ourselves.... If this team can cut down on turnovers, they will be fine.
An inspired effort is what I hoped for and that's what we got. A win would have been huge, but don't underestimate the confidence this could give our team going Into SEC play. Nice job, but just puts us further in the whole going into SEC play and will make it to where we have to have an above 500 league record just to have a winning record. That would be definite improvement, anything short of that, with any kind of losing record, would be stagnant at best. All one mans opinion.
Not sure if you realize this or not, but the SEC is very weak this year. The SEC West is ridiculously weak this is not football. Auburn will do well in conference play you can bet on it.

Never said that the SEC was cutthroat. We have averaged approximately 5-6 SEC wins for 10 years now, so assuming that we will win more than we lose in the SEC is a major jump! Hope you are right, just want to watch some winning basketball at Auburn for a change!
Was proud of the way the guys played today against #15 Illinois on the road. Just imagine how good they'd be with a coach that can coach basketball! Auburn had 20+ turnovers and only lost by 2 pts. At the end of the game we're playing a 5'10" point guard (walk on) that is totally a mismatch on defense and can't shoot a lick. I'd challenge anyone to look up and see if under Barbee Auburn has had a game where they had less than double digit turnovers. Good effort by the Tigers! As you can tell, not a Barbee fan- not much improvement over 3 years.
Thought they played hard and with emotion. Illinois is a very good team and we hung with them to the bitter end. Great effort and should prove to them that "on any given day". Followed that up by watching Louisville vs Kentucky. If we play with as much effort against Ky, we'll beat them. WDE.
