Auburn fans amaze me-and I'm one! How fickle we are. Reuben Foster is an 18yr old football player being raised by a single parent (just like hundreds of other young men) looking for a way to parlee his football skills into a way to provide for his family. He has developed a relationship and bond with a man whose main job is to do exactly that-develop a relationship with young men trying to make decisions on where they want to go to school and play football. I think in this case Trooper Taylor is more than just a football recruiter, he's a friend, a mentor, a father like figure in Reuben's life. Foster has been a stand up young man, holding this class together thru this embarrassing losing season, the turmoil. He has been supportive and out front during this whole ordeal. He is a class young man - don't ruin Auburn's chances of turning him back by spewing your venom at him. Same goes for Trooper- who has spent many days and nights on the road selling Auburn University as a great place to spend your college career. We all should recognize that he gave 100 percent to Auburn and we appreciate what he has done on the recruiting trail. Take a moment to step back and think before you post a negative comment about a young man or someone who has sacrificed for Auburn Univ. WDE
Some of the current fan base are no better than the updykes when it comes to bashing a kid like they did when he flipped, but they will not see it that way and continue berating an 18yo kid.
..........BEAT BAMA .................BEAT BAMA..................BEAT BAMA
All too true. I am sure it is just the sting of the breakup. Because of those things you point out, particularly his vigor for AU and his efforts to help our recruiting his decom at this point in time is painful. However, I will add that if the only reason he was coming to Auburn was TT he was not doing the right thing for his future. Even if TT remained on staff now the odds of him being there in any subsequent year would not be good. Coaches move. It is a fact of life. Sometimes they jump...Sometimes they are pushed, but, they all leave. In the end I hope RF does what is best for him. Although I fear now he is being influenced by others that may be committed to GA. Those guys may or may not be around in a few years either, coaches or players. Cause as we have seen at AU players come and go as well.
Fearless and True!
This .... right here .......is the best post of the year!!!!! Go Reuben ! You do the best thing for you and your family ! Please place a special emphasis on your education.....but never, never, stop looking out for you and your family and never let go of a close relationship/bond with a true friend......no matter how tough life gets...
I didn't know people were being hard on him.....
