If Petrino should'nt be hired, should all players, coaches, administrators, teachers, groundskeepers, cooks, etc both past and present who don't ADHERE to the Auburn Creed be fired or banned from campus. What about incoming recruits who have fathered children out of wedlock(happens at any SEC school) not be allowed to enroll JUST TO PLAY FOOTBALL.
There would 'nt be anybody left at Auburn or any SECor BCS school for that matter.
Give Bobby Petrino a SECOND CHANCE at Auburn! Such hypocrisy for those who have'nt committed a sin.
Furthermore Dr. Petrie & Cliff Hare would roll over in their graves to see American society as it exists today!
Beat Bama & Satan!
No, but if they commit FELONIES or accept bribes (sexual favors or otherwise) from an applicant for a position and then they hire that person as a subordinate and/or use state employees (state troopers) to COVER UP their law breaking activities, then YES....they should be fired!

"you're so vain, I'll bet you think this post is about you, don't you? Don't you?"
Agreed, just frustrated as we all are!
Serious answer: we should ditch the Creed. It no longer has any meaning, and in reality hasn't for many years.
I think it's high time we accept the reality that Auburn is NOT 'a special place', or that we are any different from the schools that we've looked down on for being 'willing to do anything to win'. The events of the past few years have proven decisively otherwise.
We all enjoyed that great feeling from winning the BCS a couple of years ago. It wasn't the product of 'work, hard work', it was the fact that we had a few players (one in particular) who were phyiscally gifted at playing football. Those gifts weren't enhanced by 'education', they were more or less given by God (or Nature, if you prefer). You can forget 'honesty and truthfulness', because they have no effect whatsoever on max bench presses or 40 times. And we certainly don't give a damn about 'the respect and confidence of my fellow men' - just read this forum to dispel yourself of that notion. And I don't feel the need to bring up 'obedience to law' in regards to our history with the NCAA and the local police.
In short, the Creed is a waste of time. We may say we believe in Auburn and love it, but the fact is we love it a lot more when we're winning. And that's all that matters in the long run.
Auburn...a family tradition since 1905
The friendships I made at Auburn and the bond I share with my father over both graduating from Auburn beg to differ. The history of traveling to Auburn for games since I was two and now taking my nieces down and watching them fawn over Aubie beg to differ.
If you cant be honest....whats the point of being anything?
Yes, we should aspire to the lowest common denominator of our own desires.
Since so many fall short, we shouldn't raise the bar, we should simply do away with the "bar", that way we can't really tell how far we've fallen.
This sounds like a great idea. Society will thrive with this philosophy.
Does this go along with the trophies for all teams even if you are the worst in the league??
Maybe I should have added
Good, we finally agree. Well said.
There aren't enough tissues to wipe away the amount tears that are falling on my keyboard right now.
