What an outrage to read in a national magazine the report of our apparent lack of fan support. We win the NC just two years ago - two years ago. I was wondering just three years ago if I in my 50 plus years of pulling for AU would ever see a NC in my lifetime and then BOOM we win it all in 2010. Our coach went all-in with taking a chance on Cam and went all-in on cutting Fairley loose, and went all-in on 30 plus days preparation to dominate Oregon. No one gave AU a chance then, but we pulled it off. Now, after some off-field weirdness in the past two summers that would throttle any program, we almost beat a #11 Clemson and have a bad day against a #23 MSU, beat a pretty good LMU and then the "negators" want CGC's head -- as reported so very nicely in today's web Sports Illustrated. I would have hoped to have seen how amazing AU fans were through thick and thin. Maybe I have underestimated the class of some of our fans. Sometimes we don't win all the games, and sometimes we grow as we re-build. I think we have some great years ahead of us. I will pull for AU against LSU (18plus underdog) and will pull for AU as they still have to meet two other top 5 national teams. I will always hope for AU to win and will long to see us win another NC. Get on board and support AU like a true fan -- no matter what. War Damn Eagle!
All Auburn All the Time!
Our national championship turned many fans overnight into Bama fans-sadly they just don't realize it.
Agreed - It's bad enough to put up with the bammers but catching it from your own fanbase is embarrassing. Grow a pair and support this team or find another.
WE COMING . WAR EAGLE !
I'm with you AUREV. I've been a fan of AU for over 50 yrs. and never once have I called for a coach to be fired and never will. I doubt anyone in a position to hire and fire a coach would give one rats butt about me calling for a coach to be fired or who we should hire when we needed a new coach. And I'm pretty sure not one of those saying GC should be fired has ever coached either a high school game or college game and wouln't have clue where to ewven start. Actually I think that the majority of those crying like babys are really not AU fans at all. Probably would just love to get CG fired since he is recruiting as well and sometimes better than that their idol - lil nickey. I sick of reading all the negativity and as of yesterday made up my mind that I don't have to read all that crap. Actually I don't have to keep paying this or any other site to read that crap and if it continues as bad as it's been the last 3 weeks and the owners of this site simply keep ignoring what it may be doing to the moral of of our team, I will simply cancel as I don't want to be associated with the crap talk in anyway. (Not a threat - just a fact) Yes I expected us to be better than last year and I think we are better. There is not another team in the country who opened on the road with a top ranked team and then played another SEC team the very next week on the road. No not even the almighty bama. Yes they opened with a top raked team who had no business being ranked in the first place and look who they have played since. I think opening one the road with Clemson was a bad decision to start with. We should have had Clemson at home this year. What would AU gain even if we won other than a win. Doubt we received as much $ as we would have if we had played at home. This young team just wasn't ready for all the hullablue associated with a high profille game on the road. We were the home team without the home field advantage. Yes we will probably have a bad year this year but we've had many bad years in teh past 60 and I will still support them. Win or lose. If you can't support them wiythout crying when they lose then you ain't AUBURN. WDE!
Defeat doesn't finish a man - quit does. A man is not finished when he's defeated. He's finished when he quits. - Richard Nixon
Thank you for posting this. It brings some clarity to the situation. I think our biggest enemy is ourselves. Too many people on here obsess with what Alabama is doing. WE ARE AUBURN. Who cares what they do.
Who cares what SI or any other "national publication" writes. The fact of the matter is we are a bad football team. Our defense has looked remarkably similar for four years and our offense has been similarly inept for the last two years. I don't think it makes you a "fair weather fan" to want to look respectable.
War Damn and God Bless - Lutzie43
So, you don't think this year's d looks significantly better than the Roofies??? Do you have a basic understanding of football concepts?
Some of "Our" fans would be better off just stepping back and realize their words can be hurtful... Recruits hear and read this stuff too... It can effect One recruit and thats too many!
You are dead on in your post.
Wish more people would think before they put their lack of Football knowledge run rampant!
FYI... I canceled 2 other site memberships and came here because I was tired of sifting through all the garbage and same old BS.
