Great story....I am an old lady but "back in the day" I had personal friends on the football team. I know what they went through. Now, I am friends with some of the players parents, so I get a lot of feedback from them. It is really troubling to me to see grown adults bashing 18 and 19 year old young men. They are giving their heart and body to the team.
I keep going back to the Coach Dye clip about laying your guts on the line and sometimes coming up empty....
I have been following AU football for 43 years.....we may not win them all but we will win our share.
This post should be stickied, and titled "The Zen of Auburn"
Very well written, and thanks for sharing it.
Wish I could give you a 1000 up-votes sir!!!!!

Very, very good read sir! I read every word and thought you did an excellent job conveying your thoughts. We all have an opinion but at the end of the day you nailed it. A tough life for the coaching staff and the players take it to heart as well. We as fans get caught up in the moment and do get frustrated, but the players and the staff want to win just as bad as we want them to. I agree with other posters as well that we need to be patient and first and foremost, enjoy the games and realize that the players and coaches are doing what they think is in the best interest to win games. We all know that we can't always get the result we want, but it is not from a lack of trying and dedication from every individual associated with any sport at Auburn. Proud to be an Auburn Tiger! WDE

Yeah, but he didn't explain why we have had three years of soft coverage and overrated players who can't tackle!
I kid of course. That really is the best post I have read on this board.

All I can come up with right now is WOW. What a powerful perspective. Everything you said was like this hammer chinking away at the nail, and, indeed, you hit it right on the sweet spot. I hope I am able to store your thoughts. I so appreciate you for sharing them. You are extremely talented at putting words on paper that mean as much to those reading as they do to you. Well done and many thanks. You know the old statement that if everyone did what you did would the world be a better place. I can assure you that if everyone will take even just a tiny piece of your perspective and hold onto it, the Auburn family will too be a better place.

Rarely post, but had to respond. Maybe the best post i have ever read on these boards. Great perspective!
Fantastic effort sir. Exceptional doesn't even come close. Great great post. Honestly, THANK YOU.
I've posted twice today - two more times than I do in a total of 6 months probably. The reason, two great reads today - first, Phillip's article "Climbing Back up the Mountain" and now this one. Totally and completely awesome (if I can use that over used word - except I mean it).
Unfortunately, there are folks like aufan89 who posted response to Phillip's article. To me, they just don't get it & probably never will. They have their opinions and they have a right to them - I, however, choose to subscribe to your view of the world. Well said and WDE!!!!
Wow. Great story. War Eagle.
