  • I'm going to call it here first:
    1) Liner is involved with the local authorities before he plays his first snap.
    2) He leaves the team in frustration over something at least once before his Jr. year.

How many guys that play the Liner game turn out to be big flops? Most of them. Its like they are getting their fifteen minutes now, while they still can.

Brice Brown, Seastrunk, Crowell and several others come to mind. I'm sorry, but it doesn't take THIS LONG to decide. They have been recruited for three years now!

Shut up, grow up, work out and get ready for the butt whipping you are about to receive as a freshman.

Hey, Seastrunk is going to win the Heisman this Fall. Just ask him!

Seriously, Brice Brown is now a starting player in the NFL. He just picked the wrong school and coach. He might have been a star at Auburn. Of that whole group of high profile HS RB prospects we were recruiting early in Chizik's tenure, most - Brown, Oku, Dyer, Seastrunk - either left or got kicked off the team at the school where they originally signed and either transferred or dropped out. I guess Lattimore had the most normal college career. He stayed with usc for three years, although he had major knee injuries in both of the last two seasons and has announced he's leaving school in order to be available for the nfl draft this Spring.

  • Bryan, I count 62 scholarship players on our current roster. Is that what you get? We've got 3 JC players enrolled and 2 more committed which means we could sign 18 additional players on Feb 6th which would give us a total of 23 new players - 5 JC and 18 HS. That would bring us up to 85.

If there are additional drop offs during the the rest of this school year we could sign a few more. The 3 enrolled could count back to last year and we could sign 25 on Feb 6th which would be a total of 28 new players. 5 players on the current roster would have to leave in order for that to be possible. Do I have the numbers right?

Seastrunk hasn't turned out to be a big flop, and he would have committed to Auburn early if he could have. Auburn stopped recruiting him (his own words). He got tangled up with a seedy street agent.

War Eagle. If I had to pick one of the big three to lose, it would have been Liner not that it was a good thing. Gus has addressed needs and I expect a big finish. I'm excited about NSD, but looking forward more to Spring.

As Coach Dye said [correctly, I think] "Everybody in the SEC gets good players; the key is what you do with them after you get them."

Apparently, not much last year; welcome the new day with enthusiasm!! At least, I will.

  • PM warned of the defections that we could expect. I guess Gus and Co. will have to get the best that they can, this year, and work on the upper classmen - to "coach 'em up". I'm assuming that we keep some of the talent it appeared we garnered (no pun) over the Chizic Era. Next year, we will be playing with mostly the Trooper/Luper guys (and some of Malzahn's guys). After next year (7-6) would be pretty good the team will start to be the afore mentioned "Gus Bus". We may find that those 8-5 years were not so bad. I am hopeful, but must be realistic about our prospects. Long term, this staff will get results or know the reason why.
