"The thing about quotes from the internet is that it’s hard to verify their authenticity." --Abraham Lincoln
I think the GameDay thing has become less about the interest in a particular game and more about the teams' ESPN affiliation. For the SEC, those are Alabama, Florida, LSU, UGA, and aTm. I don't think we'll see a GameDay thing until we're back in the national spotlight competing for championships and even then it will be only sparingly. Because it has become a "brand name" thing with ESPN, we hear very little about teams other than those listed above on their web site and on TV. All one needs to do is look at Chris Low's blog to see those teams get about 95% of the coverage. ESPN clearly favors the teams in its little "fill in the blank Nation" club. The rest of us can eat dung.
Note: The first GameDay is at Bama-Michigan. Both teams are members of the "fill in the blank Nation" club. Neither Auburn nor Clemson are members.
SEC - Alabama, LSU, UGA, UF, aTm
BIG 10 - Michigan, Ohio State
ACC - Florida State
BIG 12 - Oklahoma, Texas
PAC 12 - Oregon, Washington, USC
BIG EAST - none (what a surprise)
I think seeing GameDay outside one of those venues would be a minor miracle.
How is gameday not at the bama/michigan game?
