How could anyone be happy with Petrino??? He will split the fan base ten times worse than Chizik did when he arrived. If you are parents of a highly recruited player, would you want Petrino sitting in your living room? Would you want a guy who had an affair, lied about it, and destroyed his integrity and honor sitting in your living room representing Auburn? This is the same guy who bolted from the Atlanta Falcons (who by the way share many of the same southeastern fan base with Auburn) without even having a personal meeting with his players? The same guy who destroyed his career at Arkansas? Are we that desperate to "settle for" him when there are so many outstanding young coaches with integrity? Are you even kidding me that Petrino is at the top of the list? If Jacobs hires Petrino, he should be summarily fired and run off as soon as possible. Auburn is NOT a good fit for Bobby Petrino. He has a lot of restitution to make up for what he did at Arkansas and the Falcons. He needs to go coach in a lower level obscure league and rebuild his reputation (if that's possible) somewhere else besides Auburn. I'm just stunned he's being considered top tier. Amazing.

I disagree... Of the current realistic pool of coaches who are remotely attainable, BP is the smart choice for several reasons.... He's a proven winner, and at schools where traditionaly its hard to be successful....Number two, he had a proven record on the recruiting trail and has been successful at developing the talent he's recruited. Number three, he is the ONLY person available who can come in and win immediately.... How? He knows the territory, he's a staunch diciplinarian when it comes to his players. He has a spotless NCAA compliance record. And most importantly, especially with the situation on the Plains, he's not a "yes man".. He will not take this job or any job unless he has the keys to the store...his personality is such that its "his way" or no way... Unfortunately, this has not been a standard at Auburn. For too long, "the powers that be" have always tried to keep a hand in the football program and hindering the head coach in ways that only breakdown continuity between the coaching staff and the players.... This is what ultimately destroyed the Tubberville era, a period where we owned our arch rival for most of his tenure..., but Tubbs got fed up with all the headache of catering to the "powers that be" and thats when the program started to go south. Everyone agrees that Chizic is a nice guy. Petrino is not. The media hates him and he has no fear of them. He will restore dicipline on the football team. He will unify the team quicker than anyone else up for the job... Why.... Because he wants it! He wants it bad! He would have wanted tnis job anyway had he still been the head coach at Arkansas when Chizic was fired.... Now he needs this job more than anyone .... Because he knows that this is the only job he can get and redeem himself for his falures as a responsible human being... And make no mistake, he will work his ass off to get back the the lofty heights he was taking the Razorbacks.. He knows that he can do this at Auburn. And if we hire him, trust me, i believe he will.... He has nothing to lose but everything to gain... I believe with all the press that he garnered from his transgression that he will make it his life mission to prove himself worthy not only to Auburn, his players, or his peers , but to his family , whom by the way has chosen to stay with him and help him repair his life..... Men and brethren, i offer to you, " let he among you without sin cast the first stone"... He cant undo what he did.... All he can do is to truly be sorry and try to earn the forgiveness of his family and his Maker. And if given the chance, try to re-establish him self in the world and in college football as a winner and leader for young men who place their trust in him.... He's got my vote. WDE

  • Someone please explain the love affair with Jimbo Fisher. I am not saying he is a bad choice, I just don't know why some folks would prefer him over Petrino (on a purely coach-to-coach basis, omitting Petrino's baggage).

    All ears.

  • I was surprised to read that Fedora is our choice if we get "turned down a couple of times". I think he would be a great choice and would not come with the baggage or the feeling of being a "saviour" that some of the others might have. He did a good job at USM and with all the issues when he came to UNC it is remarkable that they had the success they had this season. Yes, over 60 by GT was not pretty, but they buckled down after that. I would take him over most of the people rated at the "top of the market"

One thing you left out about petrino, his clandestine meeting with the jetgate gang to stab Coach T in the back!!
Thanks for your post, I agree with you completely!!!

  • that's a bunch of bull, losing is what tore the fan base apart, winning brings fan base back to gether, get over the it. I'm a Auburn man for over 50 yrs. We had that Auburn Creed coach in Chiz what did it bring us????????????????/ division. I'm a season ticket holder for Titans been since day one, We have a coach just like Chiz and team has won 3 games so far, players have quit on coach. When we played Chicago Bears they had more fans in staduim than we had . We need Petrino as coach bring us back to rightful place
