  • ...and Petrino doesn't split the fan base? Jimbo can recruit (but so could Chizik). Of course Malzahn's offenses at Ark St are shut down by big team given the talent he can pull there. At Auburn he'll have better horses. I don't see Bill O'Brien leaving Penn St after what he accomplished there this year. They'll replace Paterno's statue with one of him if he can repeat 8-4 next year.

  • Selling your soul to the devil. Where has Petrino coached where it ended positively? Yeah, he can coach, but Louisville (Jetgate); Falcons (abandons mid-season leaving a note to explain his exit); Arkansas (ok, he had a mistress. But he leveraged his position to pay her significant $$$ under the table and opened his university up to multi-million dollar liability by fixing the selection process for the recruiting coordinator position so that his mistress would get it over numerous candidates with stellar qualifications. He can coach...no question. He just shouldn't be coaching at this level. He's a mercenary, so he should be in the NFL. He'd be a helluva O-coordinator in that league, where a whore like BP should be.

  • Amen. I have a child who is a current student athlete at Auburn. We live up north and I wasn't very enthusiastic about her taking an official to Auburn when her other visits to were to schools that were supposedly more highly regarded academic schools. She took the Auburn visit first, fell in love immediately, and her remaining visits were taken only because we forced her to go. Fortunately I came along with her on the Auburn visit, because I probably would not have let her sign had I not experienced this wonderful place myself. First and foremost in why she, and the I, fell in love with Auburn was because it was different. Why? It's all beautifully laid out in the Auburn Creed. I live in Kentucky, and I appreciate what Calipari has done to revitalize Kentucky basketball. But when I gave my support to my daughter to sign at Auburn, one of the biggest factors was because I thought the Auburn Family wasn't about bringing in the quick, easy solution. It wouldn't tolerate manipulation of the system a'la the "one and dones" that UK depends on. I hated to see Chizik fired given the kind of man he is in his personal life, but sure as hell understand why he had to go. I just hope Auburn doesn't validate the non-sensical b.s. spewed by Finebaum and the Alabama minions that the AU is not an attractive job, and Petrino and AU are a match made in heaven because they are both "desperate".

I was an outsider not too long ago. But I fell in love with and bought into the AU Family immediately upon being invited in. It's a special place, and does not need to settle for Petrino. Btw, I'm a Louisville supporter who was screwed over by Petrino- and he has done it everywhere he has been since.
