More and more this does not look like the event many expected and most of these names are old hat. This process is probably going to run its course some "names" will b etaken before we get to a decision and we will be left to hire Petrino (not a bad position). Why not throw Doug Martin in to the mix if we want to make a splash and hire a young up and comer?

I count 7 names on the 'warm' or 'hot' lists in the article. Of the 7, 6 look to me to perfectly appropriate choices for the AU job. I'd say Smart is clearly unqualified and shouldn't be a factor whether 'he'd accept it or not'.

Jacobs assembled a collection of highly impressive AU alums and former football players to gain a perspective. I'm sure Bo would be insulted by his lack of inclusion in your list of decent minds. Gosh he hasn't made a thing out of his Auburn experience.

Of the coaches likely to move up, Mora, Sumlin, J Fisher, Fedora, all of those are also appropriate choices. My take... we're looking at the right kind of people this time. They pass the eyeball test.

Now, your derision of the process seems unfair so far. If we hire Smart, go for it.

Where we want to be? I doubt it. I don't know a momma or a daddy in the country who'd advise their son to sign with Petrino. He may have a good coaching accumen, but that's just part of the equation. Based on his history I cannot see how a Petrino hire would have a happy ending. He may be a temporary "winner" and that's tenable at best, but he's no long term solution.We need a stable, reliable leader who'll be around for 20 years. Petrino does not fit that bill. This coaching carosel is not good for anyone. Give me a good coach with character to can recruit and lead us to consistency.
