  • I tell you what, I don't care about anything else, these three coaches have shown a level of character in the last week that I'm not sure I have ever seen in recruiting before. It's easy to see why Thig, Luper, and Trooper are the very best in the business! War Damn Eagle and, even if it isn't at Auburn, I hope for nothing but the best for these guys!

  • If we lose the Payne I'd be content bc its apparent he would play out west and we are still in the running for DG, that being said Lawson, Johnson, Liner, Jeremy J, Reuben, and Robinson need to be retained bc if not they could be trouble competeing against since other SEC schools are out for em...need to nail down this new HC and hit the road running WDE!

  • Earnest Robinson in Bobby Petrinos offense, with Jeremy Johnson throwing him passes.

    LETHAL.

I really hope Trey Johnson comes back to Auburn, the kid has been convinced for over a year that Auburn is the best place for him. It would be a huge sting to lose him, especially with LB being such a huge need. If as good as advertised, he will earn serious playing time next year.

With that being said, we should just go ahead and offer Zach Cunningham, he has blown up this season.

  • It is a little strange to me that these guys are hanging around and continuing to recruit. I'm wondering if they know something that we don't. If you connect the dots does it lead to Malzahn's return? It could be something so simple as bonus money for continuing to work, but it is more than odd to me. Bryan, is this a common thing for coaches to stay on and recruit until the new coach arrives, especially since the new coach is to announced in the next week or so? If these coaches are just doing what they are paid to do and fulfilling their responsibilities, it should serve them well when they begin their own job search. Another question, why aren't they interviewing for other jobs right now? It just doesn't add up.

These coaches are not guaranteed anything and they don't know anything substantial about the coaching search other than what they hear from other coaches they talk to. It will depend on who the next head coach is but my hunch is that none of them will be retained. We'll see.

Its not entirely unusual for a coach or coaches to do this but I think they should be commended for it.

I remember a few assistants helping recruit the last time this happened (firing Tubs) but cannot remember specific names - maybe Gran or some others? Someone I'm sure can remember - seems like there were 3 or 4 that helped keep some recruits intact for us.

Great men of Charachter to be committed & continue helping out.

We got Loop & Troop from Ok St didn't we? Were they under Miles or Gundy? Just thinkin if we get Gundy and or Malzahn maybe they'd get to stay on board!

    So Bryan

Did no other coaches stick around to help or is nobody saying any other names other than Thig, Trupe & Loop? Just curious...

Those are the only three on the road that I know of. I believe some of the other coaches are still hanging around doing some stuf but don't know any specifics.
