Coach Lefty

  • You guys can say what you about him and his play calling but i can assure you Coach Chiz has his hand in the play calling. I stated many times before that when we made the choice to go Pro Style because of Bama and LSU. This sudden change will and have set us back at least 2-3 years. the spread that we were running was find, just that Coach Chiz had his hands in it. When you look at things most conservative offense all have outstanding defenses.

  • No offense, but Chiz ain't calling any plays on O. Maybe one or two here or there, but don't kid yourself... the issues on Saturday were not "as much" the "play caller" whoever that may have been.

Let me preface by saying that I believe that KF could still develop into a great player... there are just too many examples of QB's that royally stunk up the place early in their careers and then develop into great QB's as the matured. He definitely has the physcial tools... his issues are all mental.

With that disclaimer out of the way... the issue Saturday was that KF had an ubeliveably terrible day. It happens. He admitted to screwing up 75% of the time... I am going to go out on a limb and say that in the history of football when a QB does the wrong thing 75% of the time... the offense was probably not very effective.

  • Beyond KF mistakes, the issues were not the plays it was how the plays were executed. If you design a play where you have leverage on the defense and two guys miss their blocks, you no longer have leverage.

It all comes back (to some degree) to that ol saying: " Xs and Os not Pats and Joes" or something like that anyhow. You have to execute your blocks are you will look very bad. Everyone had missed blocks: Prosch, Lutz, Blake, Stallworth, Sullen, Bray, Dismukes just to name the ones I remember.

And the missed blocks weren't because they didnt' know who to block--they simply didn't get the job done. And each one of those I mention directly influenced the outcome of the play in a negative way!!

Trust me, I spent 4 hours watching every offensive snap in slo-mo

  • I saw some of that real time. Had a diamond formation out on the right side of the formation. Actually had three blockers and two defenders out there. Total bust in coverage and stallworth couldn't keep the guy off our receiver. Play ended up losing yardage, when it should have gone for at least fifteen yards.

Saw Lutz miss a bad one too. Blake got a penalty on one because he used poor technique.

I agree with you. Consistant poor execution but on the mirco scale. Not that people didn't run the right plays, just they didn't execute them perfectly.

You mentioned two of the very ones I was referring to.
