Yes, Chizik has recruited very well. But it means nothing if you can't coach them up. Name one time Jeff Whitaker(#54 prospect in the nation) whipped his man and hit a ball carrier in the back field. Name one instance where Trovon Reed(#1 player from LA) turned the tide of a game with a big play. Kiehl Frazier was the National Offensive Player of the Year, yet he looks like the second coming of Kodi Burns. LaDarius Owens and CJ Mosley were both two of the best linebackers in AL coming out of high school. One looks like a first round prospect, the other can't even get on the field.

Some will blame it on bad luck with off the field issues. But isn't it partially the head coach's job to keep control of his players and teach these kids some life lessons? If he's doing his best to keep them out of trouble then why is he recruiting thugs with character issues in the first place? That's exactly what happened to the recruiting classes towards the end of the Tuberville era.

A lot of you won't except the fact that without Cam Newton, we don't win the National Championship. You can't even argue it. Without him we don't go on an 8 minute drive to beat Kentucky, we don't score 65 points on Arkansas, and we don't rally from 24 down in Bryant Denny. He was one of the single greatest players in college football history. Don't give Chizik credit for recruiting him, either. You've all heard the story about how GC almost rejected the idea of pursuing Cam. Even with Cam, our secondary was next to last in the SEC.

In seasons without Newton, Chizik is 16-12.

Another disturbing issue is the way we get beat. Under Chizik we've been beaten by three possessions 7 times in 42 games. Pat Dye had 9 three possessions losses during a span of 142 games. How do we not have the talent to compete with Mississippi State?

2011: Auburn-7th MSU-44th
2012: Auburn-10th MSU-30th

There's obviously something not right with the coaching staff. It gets old hearing about all these play makers in the spring and throughout the summer. Where are they now?

Maybe 5-19 was a legitimate indicator. Most on here claim that nobody can win at Iowa State. Well look at the progression of Paul Rhodes:
2009: 7-6 Insight Bowl W
2010: 5-7
2011: 6-7 Pinstripe Bowl L
2012: 1-0
compared to...
Chizik:
2007: 3-9, including a 24-13 loss to Northern Iowa and a 56-3 loss to Texas
2008: 2-10, win less in the Big 12
